    Savage 10/110 vs 11/111

What exactly is the difference besides the price and polymer stock? After a long research I am pretty set on the savage at this point. I was thinking about tikka T3 but the low 3 round magazine is steering me away from it. I plan on using it for deer hunting only. I know I know - I shouldn't need more than 3 rounds, but when you are shaking from the adrenaline and sitting/standing in a wierd crooked pose aiming at a deer, you might miss once or twice.

I think the 10/110 are short actions (.308, .243, etc) while the 11/111 are long actions (30-06, .270, etc.) Im sure a Savage guy can tell us the difference between the 10 and 110 or the 11 and 111.

The two digit number 10/11 are short actions and the three digit 110/111 are the long actions

I have a Savage 10 FCP-K in 308 and it's a great riffle. Only issue is finding magazines. Savage only makes a 4 (or is it 5?) round mag and 9 round mags are available online for $90+

Food for thought. Find out if magazines are available and within your budget for the rifles you are considering.

+1, mags are a killer hidden cost. If I want another AICS mag for my new AWT chassis it's an extra $125 for a 10 round. Ouch.

I have a Savage 111 hog hunter in .338 win and I am looking at around 60.00 for magazines IF I convert to a mag fed chassis. Just an FYI, bolt action magazines will generally cost you 3 times or more what you would pay for an AR mag but you dont need as many and they generally dont go through the same abuse as your carbine mags so you only need a few and you should be good. A small investment for a lifetime of use.

Ah - I stand corrected. Then, what's the difference between Model 10 and Model 11, or Model 110 and Model 111?

I think the 10 vs 11 (110 vs 111) is the barrel profile. My hog hunter is an 11 (.308) but has a profile between the two. Maybe they should call it a 10.5. hahaha! 10 is heavy, 11 is a "regular" (?) profile.

                  Nothing wrong with a Savage.
That said the Tikka has 3 and 5 rounds mag you can buy for it. They can be changed fast. Or hunt with a 5 round mag and 1 in the chamber for 6 tries at the animal.
Also if you get 4(3 in mag and 1 in chamber) aimed shots at an animal and miss it is time to stop and rethink what you are doing.

Have you done much hunting? It sounds like you have not to me. Not an insult. Just an observation.

Do they come in .300 Savage? My 99 in .300 is sweet

                    A 110/111 in 250-3000 would be nice.

Interesting looking at Savage site; they do not offer any of the classic savage chamberings. I thought maybe they would at least offer a Classic 250-3000. Closest is the 22-250...

From what I've read on the Savage website, model 10/110 has a aluminum bedded accustock and the 11/111 does not.

Very true. Not to mention it's got to have a metal base from what I hear? Can't verify it. After checking around for prices, wasn't worth it

                            And it's a 4 round mag

I currently have the savage model 10 in 308
