My view is that Oswald did get the throat shot on JFK. But there is the fact that a lot of people said they did hear a shot from the grassy knoll. I do give some credence for the second gunman theory.

More than half of the witnesses pointed to the tbsdb, less than half said grassy knoll.
TWO said they heard shots from two different directions. That rules out two shooters to me. Actually; its seemed to wander over into a more interesting talk about late 60s gun prices.
The ad listed is quite interesting to me. All kinds of surplus w/o any combloc... for obvious reasons... but still not something I've seen before....Last edited by sl0re10; 05-07-2014, 5:14 PM.Comment

Not at all. A psuedo intellectual with an unchecked ego, who could not work with others and who refused to take orders from anyone. Utterly disillusioned with the us and the ussr.
The last guy in the world anyone would trust with an import a nt task. A true believer who obeys orders is far easier to control.Originally posted by tony270It's easy to be a keyboard warrior, you would melt like wax in front of me, you wouldn't be able to move your lips.Originally posted by repubconservPrint it out and frame it for all I careOriginally posted by el chivoI don't need to think at all..XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOriginally posted by pjsigYou are talking to someone who already won this lame conversation, not a brick a wall. Same here. But a little talk about the theories (As long as it does not devolve into rants) is always good for a topicFormerly lugerdevil666

Well in my defense, I did put a question mark at the end of the sentence.Part of your answer is based on the false premise that jfks handling of viet nam would have been different than johnsons.
Id advise anyone thinking this to read the text of the speech jfk was supposed to deliver at the trade mart that day. He was not isolationist and may have put in more troops than johnson ended up doing. Similarly, johnson was not hawkish and his writings show he was reluctant to commit troops to that area
Here is a link to the text of the speech.
The President made often conflicting statements on the subject to include "it's their war, in the final analysis they must win it" on 2 Sept 63.
With respect to the Trade Mart speech, I think we ought to remember he was in Texas and crafted the speech for a conservative crowd that questioned his anti-communist credentials.
While Johnson may not have been enthusiastic about Vietnam the manner in which he became President influenced him to take a "stay the course" approach. The killing of the President in 1963 may have caused Johnson to do something he would have otherwise avoided.Last edited by dfletcher; 05-07-2014, 6:53 PM.GOA Member & SAF Life MemberComment

Oh, absolutely. I wasnt criticizing, just using the point as an entry to discuss this point. You certainly didnt say it, but people frequently claim jfk was killed because "he was going to pull out of viet nam"Well in my defense, I did put a question mark at the end of the sentence.

It's NOT my position that he was going to escalate, I agree with you. It was certainly unclear what he was planning to do, and johnsons intentions were similarly unclear.
Because of the unknown, viet nam wasnt a factor in any motive to have him killed.Originally posted by tony270It's easy to be a keyboard warrior, you would melt like wax in front of me, you wouldn't be able to move your lips.Originally posted by repubconservPrint it out and frame it for all I careOriginally posted by el chivoI don't need to think at all..XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOriginally posted by pjsigYou are talking to someone who already won this lame conversation, not a brick a wall. It is well known that these types of men are recruited, nurtured and programed (nowadays - including drugs and hypnosis programing) by intelligence outfits to be part of an operation, take the fall and not know what happened or why...and we have our lone wolf/rogue/troubled young outsider perp.
I had a client, who happened to be a psychiatrist, that had been a Doc. working for the Gov. tell me that we (the public) have no idea of the nature and quantities of psychotropic drugs that are not on the market but available to certain organizations. And this goes quite a ways back.Comment

If you get a chance take a look at an "American Rifleman" magazine from 1967 or earlier. You won't believe the surplus stuff that was for sale. The only paperwork required for them to mail it to your house was a signed statement that you were over 18. You can find these old magazines on Ebay for a few bucks.THBailey
