savage 300 win mag 111 hand load groups!

Hey guys, what do you think of these groups out of my 300 win mag. I am a pretty novice shooter and hunter. I have shot a couple of different factory non lead ammo and could not get the gun to group. I tried Hornady superformance and wihchester with nosler etips. Nothing under and inch and a half. So I decided to give hand loading a try and WOW. 165GR Barnes with once fired Remington cases Winchester LMR primers and some IMR 4831.

It was at 100 yards. I will be going out again and actually getting zeroed. Only made enough to test for grouping

Anything under MOA is perfectly fine for a hunting gun.

Now shoot those same loads at 300 yards and see how they group. If your still in MOA, I'd call it good.

I will be heading out and see what the groups look like at further ranges.

I owned that rifle in 338 lapua. Your rifle can do much better. IMO it's not time to stop tweaking the load yet.

It's always nice though to have a really accurate load with lead-free stuff, isn't it?

I will try smaller increments and see what I get. Could be the shooter as well lol. But yes feels great to know something made in my garage was that accurate. Thanks for the input

Why I say 300 is because you can see the groups open at what would be a far but yet comfortable shot. Also you can figure out your drop from your 100yd zero then split the difference and be in the kill zone from 100-300 yards.

I have that same rifle and the only non lead I could get to shoot well was the Barnes Vortex and it shot Really good.

Yes e believe I will zero at 200. In the book I should be 1.75 high at 100 yards and just under 4 inches at 300 yards. Will definitely verify this on my next hodge rd trip
