I have a 38 and 99 sportered by my FIL and my wifes uncle in the early mid 50's. They always told me that they paid $3 for them and rebarreled them. My FIL liked the 300 Savage and her uncle liked the 257 Roberts. Mine are both Bobs.

JFYI, the US Army, under GEN Julian Hatcher, proof tested all rifles that were used in WWII.

Only the Arisaka failed to blow up.
"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself...A murderer is less to fear. The traitor is the plague."......Cicero
