    375 H&H

I am looking for a new Dangerous game Bolt rifle.
I have pretty much decided on a 375 H&H, and am trying my best to keep it in the $2000 range if possible.

I have my eye on the CZ550 (for about $1100)and will in all likelihood be the one I will go with, but I am also considering the Sako Kodiak at about ($1700).

The rifle will only see use for hunts and a couple of rounds to sight it in. It must be a competent rifle but doesn't have to be some $20k masterpiece.

Any suggestions or input is appreciated.

    Thanks!

My 375 H&H is the Winchester Model 70 Classic Safari Express and I'm really happy with it. Take a look at them for about $1,200.

Unfortunately Winchester no longer makes the left handed, Safari Express so I bought a lefty Zastava Mauser in 458 Win mag but it has taken a lot of work to get it in to shape for DG.

I've rebarreled it, added a barrel band swivel, a new front sight, had a second recoil lug added and had the feeding adjusted.

Thanks for the feedback! I will give the winchesters a look as well.
I too am lefty, but I have never bothered with left handed bolt rifles and hav not really felt at a disadvantage.
Do you really enjoy an advantage using the lefthanded bolt? How exactly?
      Thanks!

Trying to stick with 375 H&H not 375 Ruger.

Does ruger offer a rifle in 375H&H?

No, but they may have in the past.

Why do you want a 375 H&H over a ruger? I have 2 375 Rugers my friend has a ruger and a H&H. The ruger gets used in Alaska the H&H has yet to take any game. I love my 20" barreled 375 ruger with a bushnell elite 6500 2.5-16x on top. I don't feel the need for a 24" barrel.

Goto CDNN investments and order a Winchester classic expresses in 375 if you must. The last price was 979.99 shipped to your FFL. Another choice is Remington Custom shop KS Alaska Kevlar model. I remember seeing them for about 1500.00 and they are a nice rifle. The one my cousin has an 22" barrel.

Im in the same boat but just got my brothers browning xbolt stainless stalker in 300 win mag for a moose trip hopefully. But when I go for my grizzly and later my Africa trip Im probably going to go again with the browning x bolt in 375 H&H.

375 H&H is available worldwide and easily so. Not so sure about 375 Ruger.
Further, this is going to be a backup rifle for an upcoming trip and I want both in the same chambering.

Why do you prefer the 375 Ruger other than the fact that you have taken game with it and not with an H&H?

                    Thanks

I have a CZ550 Safari American in 375 H&H..very comfortable rifle and, once a load is found/worked up, quite accurate. Haven't fired another 375, but I'm very pleased with mine. Worked up loads of 235, 270, and 300 grain in Barnes Triple Shock, plus a 300 grain Barnes solid. Don't hunt (I'm poor), but I like to shoot as if I do.....

This is on the top of the list as of the moment. I like the price and its features make it pretty hard to beat.

Of course, if I can just find a pre '64 winchester that would be perfect!

If you ever go to Africa to hunt just know some place have a minimum caliber of 40 cal, so you might want to look at a 416 Rigby. The CZ550 is a beautiful gun. Im looking at the 416 Rigby myself.

They are $1199 right now, unless there is a deal I didn't find.
