I didn't know either. Map says its about 2 hours south of manteca area. that's not too bad. Sac is closer tho. But great to know there's another one there. That's close to that Tumey hills place too. South of Las banos

I go down that way for work. So I was just wondering if its a walk on type of range.

But I really like shooting at Tumey.

Its BLM land. So there are some rules to follow. Stay on the roads with your car. Don't drive off the roads. You can park a car length or so off the road but thats it. Pack out what you packed in. Don't leave any shells or trash behind. All the same laws apply to BLM that apply to a range. Don't take a full auto AR or a 50 round mag out there. Rangers do come by and check on people. Some people think because they're out on BLM that no one else is and they can do whatever they want.

I presonally like the western entrance better for rifle shooting. The eastern side (the first entrance to the park off I5) is really nice for handguns though. Get something to make a cheap light target stand out of or shoot metal if you want. Walk it out to a safe spot to shoot. I take a tarp to lay on too shoot. Just makes it easier.

I was getting 300 yards out to a piece of steel on the hill to the left of us. I could have gotten out to 500+ pretty easily.

Coalinga is a club range, there are no walk ins. There is camping, bathrooms with showers and RV hookups for cheap. Bring your own water for drinking, the taps taste like burning. On match days they have lunch for cheap. Check the website and get in touch with Dirk, it's a great range to shoot on. Getting to the range is a bit on the funky side, I wouldn't go at night my first time out there or you'll be driving around the oil fields for hours.

weg: That device is obsolete now. They replaced it with wizards.
frank: Wait a minute. There are more than one wizard? Is [are?] the wizard calibrated?
