Remy 783 Feeding Problem

Look at the metal lip on the top- rear of the mag. You might have to bend that piece slightly downward to get the rear of the mag to lift.
Another option is to bed the rifle and you'll have some bedding compound sit on top of where that mag lip rests. Dremel/ sand it down to get it to a level you like.
Either way, don't lift the *** of the mag so high that the bolt won't close forward. Keep that in mind.Ruger 10/22

What seemed to work the most was bending the spring on the magazine itself which held the catch in place. This improved the performance for a while but then I would have to bend it out again. I actually sold the rifle back in November when I moved to SoCal and really have not looked back. I currently have a Winchester 70 Stealth II and am not planning on purchasing a stock Remington product ever again. Don't even miss my 700 anymore.sigpicComment

Bought a Remington 783 in .270 to get back into the bolty game without breaking the bank. So far I'm really happy with what I got for the price, but I have a little problem with it feeding rounds from the magazine. The second round never wants to feed because the bolt face isn't catching it when moving forward. The fourth round in the same side of the mag feeds without issue. Any suggestions? I was thinking about buying another magazine anyways and seeing if that solved the problem, but I'd like to have this one working too. The ammo I was using was Remington Core-Lokt 130 gr SP. Thanks for the help!

I had a similar problem where the bolt was going above the ammo cartridge and pushing the round down so it would not load the next one, I contacted Remington after several attempts and inquired about this issue, they had no information about the problem, the kind lady that took my call sent a new one, just got it today so gonna try it at the range soon.sigpicComment
