Thoughts on Atlas bipod for AICS

So I currently use a Harris SBRM 6-9 notched
great bipod, real nice, love it

but is the Atlas really a much more superior bipod?
also is the AICS spigot + Atlas bipod combo worth it?

Dunno if the spigot is worthless. I have a BRM 6-9 notched(non-swivel) on one rifle, and an atlas on another.

The atlas isn't as fast to deploy, however once deployed it's a lot more solid. I can also deploy it shorter by bringing the legs only partway down. With the tilt and swivel I can get my rifle level without doing much screwing around with where the bipod legs are. If you want a lightweight, quick to deploy bipod, stick with the harris. While you can tighten the atlas, you can't really lock it in place(does take a bit to get it to move though). It's better in some ways, not all. Don't know how it would directly compare to the SBRM model from Harris though.

Stick with the Harris. Atlas is too slow to deploy and feels spongy when you preload it.

I honestly kind of like that about preloading the atlas. Not that I can't preload a harris, but it's certainly a lot more obvious. But yeah, the atlas sucks in the speed department. I could flip a harris back and forth 4 or 5 times in the time it takes to deploy an atlas due to the buttons, and more specifically getting to the button to deploy the leg on the other side of the rifle.

An overwhelming percentage of guys in the PRS series use Harris bipods for many of the reasons already stated.

I have a harris on each of my rifles and wouldnt have it any other way. I know they dont look as cool or seem as well built but they just plain work. The Atlas is just slow and clumsy plain and simple.

I have a Harris and an Atlas... I like them both for different reasons. Biggest thing I like about it is I can get lower than a Harris and rake the legs forward or back.

Atlas is nice and versatile, but I can't imagine feeling at a disadvantage is all I had was my Harris.

If you got the money, it makes a nice addition.

              The reason I am intrigued
By the atlas is I feel like I can load better off that than a Harris
But realistically speaking, I'm getting a vortex 6-24x50 ffp before I do any fancy stuff lol

Honestly, I'd say the harris seems better built. It's solid, simple, and fast, without being flimsy or requiring a bunch of extra parts. About the only people I've ever seen gripe about a harris, are people using a lame harris clone.

Thats a very good point. The clones ive tried are just crap.

What is the downside to using the Accuracy International Bipod #2485. I tend to prefer to match the accessories that go with the make.

+1 also interested in the AI bipods, I do know they don't lock so that may be a problem

If you ASR trip works out, you can try my AI bipod. It's nice, but it doesn't hold a candle to the Sako TRG bipods.

My issue with the atlas is that they don't lock down nearly as solid as a Harris and they have issues when dirty.
Other than being less functional as a bipod, they so look great in pictures...

AI, Parker Hale and Versapods are all so floppy that I can't get solid behind them.

looks like I won't be burning $300 for an atlas
