    bipods.....best value choice help.

Hi, going to start learning longer range rifle shooting and i would imagine i'll need a bipod. Looking for advice as to which would be a good value choice for a first time buyer. Don't want junk and probably don't need the absolute best. Online there are so many different models and brands, for example, caldwell, vanguard, harris, atlas. mako, gg&g etc. I really appreciate your insight and help.

Harris and depending on what type of shooting you do determens what height to go with. I use the 6-9 BRM-S Notch Leg Swivel model on all my precision rigs.

Harris hands down. I have the 6-9 model as well.

I looked at the Cadwell, my problem with them was the legs would only lock in at set points, whereas the Harris I can lock in at any length. The Harris is going to run you about $90 vs the $60 for others.

Harris do pretty well. Expect around the $100 range

Atlas is about as good as it gets. Bu cu bucks tho.

I use Harris's on my 700's and other similar rifles and an atlas on my AI. Atlas is the better bipod but it costs a lot more than the Harris. Depends on what you want to spend. As atlas can be set at several different positions ( Harris is either legs down or up) the atlas is a better option

Harris. It's pretty much the standard for a reason. Yes they aren't cheap, but they're also better than the cheap clones(which I've also had, and since gotten rid of). I also have an atlas, which I think is better than the harris. However it's also more than double what a harris goes for last I saw.

The best bipod I use under $100 is Harris. I've tried a few cheaper ones, but never liked them. Personally I like the leg notch bipods. I hate bipods where you have to loosen and tighten them to get them to the position you want. They always seem to lose grip and one leg starts to shorten. The leg notch bipods are easy to adjust, and hold their position. Just buy the height of bipod you will need.

This. I have 3 and the only thing they need is a pod lock.

As said over and over, Harris 6-9" Notch leg, and swivel with a pod-loc for quick adjustments.

I have a Harris on my pimped out M&P 15/22.

I'm very happy with it. It's stable, pretty rugged, and easy to use and install.

Like the others said, Harris leg notch swivel bipod. Then, add a pod lock.

Is this going to be one of those threads where the OP comes back in a few days and tells us how he bought a $20 bipod and lets us know how much he likes it after asking what the best option would be and not liking the answer? I hope not.

I hope not. I've got a bunch from Harris down to cheapo caldwell for a couple of rimfire guns, but by far the Harris has been my favorite. There is a reason everyone copies it.

Anything cheaper than a Harris is probably a false economy. The swivel top Harris will really perform well, and it is built well enough to last for a while.
