You could simply call Jim Oconnel and find out his un-biased opinion but here is mine.
We were at the 2011 Nationals and were told we didn't need to ne present to win any prizes as they knew who everyone was and would get the prizes to us.ALL SHOOTERS were told this as did the 500 pound Blob in court.
We had John Crawford there to p0ick up our prizes if won as the 500 pound Blob is hanging around with some real beauties lately which have mis-handled other prizes at Folsom.
If VU wants I can name names but the initials are GC and LB and the prize was yet another Nightforce scope.
My 80 year old fathers name was drawn 3rd and the next prize was the Nightforce scope.The 500 pound Blob offered to give him a $35 Edgewood front bag which never happened.
I called the president of the club and told him what happened and what has been happening there for several years now.I waas told by the president he would look into and because of what I do for a living I told him to contact the clubs lawyer so everything was up and up.
A week goes by so I call the president and he tells me VU got voted in the previous night and will be handling the situation.
I call VU and get a nutcase hot head on the phone telling me he can give the prizes out to anyone he wants.He tells me he spoke to the 500 pound Blob and the 500 pound Blob didn't know if my father wanted a Nightforce scope or the $35 front bag.
I knew right then this character was scum and asked him to contact his lawyer as he was incapable of holding a adult conversation.I received a letter from his lawyer saying the club was responsible for the match and the prizes but because the 500 pound Blob was so pathetic/incompetent the shooters couldn't expect to win prizes at the biggest longrange benchrest match of the year The Nationals.
As the 2 day on the job president and the 5900 pound Blob are birds of a feather rather than wasting time and effort we took them to court.
In California if a raffle is held or a prize table is set up the rules of the state must be followed if a contract is set-up.
In this case if the 500 pound Blob has anounced the prizes on Benchrest Central like has been done for every previous match the club would owe my father a scope.
Likewise if the shooters in attendance expected prizes to be given away the club would owe my father a scope.
At court the judge looked over the 500 pound Blob and after talking to him announced there was no way anyone could have expect the pathetic idiot to get any prizes.
The above quote from James Pappas is over a drawing done by the most dominate rimfire gunsmith on the planet today Mr Bill Calfee.
If you get a first copy of one of Mr Calfee's books I am in it and James Pappas is not.Mr Calfee did a drawing for the cover and it was given to James Pappas as he was the first person to buy a book.
Mr Calfee painted a similar painting of the cover and sent it to me and James Pappas was not very happy.
Mr Pappas sold his copy to a southern California shooter.
My copy and several other paintings and books by Mr Calfee along with a $4800 pistol and some very very expensive rifles will go on display at the Whiitington center after he passes as a gift from my family to all the rimfire shooters displaying Mr Calfees legacy and talents.I will never sell any of the pieces and will buy anything Calfee if it is authentic and priced correctly.

You fit in at Sacramento like a glove but you fit the shooting sports like O'Js glove.

You should contact Jim Oconnell and post here exactly what he told the 500 pound Blob at the raffle.Jim is all class in my book and I am willing to let his response on this matter be the final word on my end.

I shot in Oregon last sunday with a B.O.D. member from Sacramento and believe me everyone including myself thinks the world of him but VU is not regarded in the same esteem.It was a nbrsa 600 yard match.

Tactical is a reference to a sales point, things like tactical gear, tactical rifles, etc.. Or designed the be used in a tactical situation or preparing for a situation where another human being is trying to kill you, while you are trying to kill them. Following to the idea of military, law enforcent or PMC( private military contractor)

The concept is actually designed for operators or military contractors.

A true tactical AR-15 has nothing that requires batteries. Bi-pod, usually a Trijicon RCO/Acog. No flashlights, no fancy equipment. Cheap battery powered Acogs break, and you can easily smash it.

A Tactical Bolt action rifle going to take some more abuse than a bench rest shooter, so you have to consider your optics more carefully and what kinda of stock more carefully. Considering you may shoot on rocks, high temperatures, get dirtier than bench rest, you will probably pay more for ease of equipment usage and the higher abuse durability.

I got one of those then....my 308 lever Browning ...iron sight. It tactically killed lots of pigs deer and Alaska bears. Uhhh huuhhh I'm tactical !

I asked the president of the nbrsa for my money back after the same bunch of clowns that cheated my father out of the scope in 2012 cheated all the shooters at the 2010 Nationals.
When you are sent your money back you can no longer go to the meetings or submit rule changes and that is what is being talked about in the above post on Benchrest Central.

I didn't want my membership money($50) back I wanted my match fees refunded($150) but incompetence runs rampant in the nbrsa and they are a small/cheap organization with only 3500 members.

I have been asked several times to re-up and to start shooting nbrsa matches by Lou Murdica and Don Nielson but after you learn to truth about what takes place you no longer feel the urge to compete with that type of person.Lou was the southwest regional director until this scandal broke and he retired and Don "The Cheetah" Nielson is the vice president.

As I am a principled man do in part to my profession I have declined every invitation to join back up with that organization but I mentor a young shooter and take my father to the matches that are run correctly which excludes Sacramento.

I was not allowed to submit my agenda items do to my request for a match fee refund being turned into a membership fee refund and that is what the above post mentions.

Dennis Thornberry said I was right all along and he is the President of the nbrsa and the southwest regional director Lou Murdica wrote me a e-mail after all the cheating took place saying it was all his fault.

They actually wanted shooters from all across the country to re-shoot the nationals 6 months later.

Naturally the 500 pound blob was in charge of the 2010 fiasco and the 2012 fiasco as well and unfortunately VU isn't sharp enough to look into anything before shooting his mouth off.He got his wrong info from the Blob.
