    Side charging handle

This lets you run a cheek riser, which you cannot do if you need to run the rear charging handle (unless you move the riser out of the way, charge and move it back). Apparently the brits do this to get legal ARs.

If you are simply looking for an AB374 work around, simply epoxying a 10 round magazine into the well would do the trick and still give you single shot capability.
