Kind of depends on what you want to do with the rifle. If you want the take from high end accuracy guys, most Benchrest and F Class matches post what was used by competitors for a given match, and there is rarely a carbon fiber barrel listed (though you have to look at all factors driving this as well: could be purely accuracy, could be the temperature handling of carbon barrels, or could be the additional cost added to the normal 1K to 1.5K round count before replacement.)

If you're humping the rifle through the woods, the weight savings would be a no-brainer.

I have limited experience with carbon fiber barrels (never owned one); Accuracy wise, I haven't seen any detriment to them. I also haven't seen any substantial improvement with them. YMMV.

Even the guys sponsored by Proof shoot the steel barrels during bench matches. The carbon barrels are made for hiking.

It’s be for hiking around. A lot of hiking for me is only about 5 miles a day but decent elevation gain. I think the weight different for the one rifle I’m looking at is only 17 Oz. I feel like I could suck it up.
Buying a safe and sane firework is like paying a hooker for a hug. I do not see the appeal in it.

I built a super lightweight Ruger 10/22 which has a CF barrel. Accuracy is great from a solid rest. The thing is so light nobody can shoot it worth a damn offhand ... it's too danged lightweight! Extremely difficult to shoot well.

Do it, especially for hiking low round count.
