Dumb question about Carbon fiber barrels?

So I found a pretty good deal on a Christiansen Arms rifle with a carbon fiber barrel. I know you were warned already this is a dumb question: many years ago while doing reserve fire work, we had to be careful not to get cleaning agents on our SCBA air tanks because they were wrapped in carbon fiber and if
You got cleaning agents on there it would eat the wrap away, tank could rupture etc.

So my worry is while the specs on this rifle are amazing I?m scared I?m gonna get hops on it and it?s gonna dissolve or something.
Buying a safe and sane firework is like paying a hooker for a hug. I do not see the appeal in it.

Don’t forget the dangers of carpeting as well. Many ways to ruin something that can reliably encounter explosive of over 40,000 PSI over and over. I wouldn’t send it on a trip to the titanic either. Even if you noticed a problem on the way down and dropped the receiver and stock it probably wouldn’t surface in one piece.

A friend has a Christensen Arms 22 rifle, super accurate; the barrels get very hot quick.
Definitely avoid lubricants and solvents on the CF, but clean the bore like any SS barrel.

      Enjoy!

Don't bring it into the room where you make your home brewed beer and you should be fine.

You get what I?m saying though. Hoppes autocorrected. I?m basically trying to figure out if the CF is less durable than the stainless barrel and worth the extra $500 for 17 Oz weight savings.

^ I figured it was something like that.

Even if I had the extra money, I don't think I'd spend it on a CF barrel.

CF barrels don't make sense unless it's a hunting rifle carried a lot and only shot a few times.

I?m going to go out on a limb and say of course CF is less durable than solid steel. But that should be obvious. Proof carbon barrels are military approved so they can?t be that fragile. It?s only worth the money if you are hiking with it or I?d actually consider it a negative on a bench gun. And christensen arms barrels aren’t exactly known as the best carbon barrels for accuracy. No personal experience but lots of mixed reviews.

The medical examiner ruled it accidental. Our victim thought he was taking a breath from a
carbon fiber scuba tank instead of Carbon Fiber Ruger 10/22 barrel.

Who wants to notify next of kin?

I know you guys are all super high end rifle experts. All my question boils down to is this: I don’t know anything about carbon fiber barrels. I find myself at a place in life where I have a surplus of money. From my Limited online research it appears a lot of people who don’t have any experience will explain why CF barrels are bad. On a weird side note I do have experience with CF mountain bike frames and am not impressed. They break. I guess I’m just trying to understand if they’re good or not. At this point I think I’m leaning stainless. This rifle purchase would be to replace the heavier of my two hunting rifles. So 9.5 lbs without optic wouldn’t be awful.

Just get a proof carbon. It’s the current industry standard. Or go with with steel. Either way you should be fine.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that it probably won't be an issue:

I have a Proof 6.5CM pre-fit on my AI. So far, not a single issue with either durability or accuracy.

I have a Proof carbon barrel and it's worth the cost in my opinion.
