    Aero Solus

Is this the bargain it appears to be? 3 lug, 60 degree lift, Remington 700 footprint, lapped barrel. Under $1100 for barreled action. Right now it's only in boring chamberings, maybe better ones in the future?

60 degree bolt lift means it's harder to cock the striker than a 90 degree bolt lift because you are cocking the striker with less bolt travel.
Also if it's 3 lug like many 60 degree lift actions, that causes problems with what types of magazines it will work with.
Other than that, I have no experience with that particular action.

It's a nice 700 SA footprint action for the money that takes "Savage Small Shank W/ Barrel nut and Shouldered Zermatt Origin Pattern Pre-Fit Barrels" so barrel wise there will be tons of options out there from various manufacturers and dealers, it also uses both AICS and AW mags. We had some Aero Solus actions ship in last week and we are impressed with their quality.

Cool, thanks. On paper it sounds like quite the bargain. Aero is mostly an AR vendor so it's good to hear that some knowledgeable people have examined this action.

They were smart deciding to jump into the growing market of precision bolt action rifles like Seekins and Daniel Defense

I think they hit a great price point. Solid bang for the buck. Worth a look if you're getting into the precision rifle game. Aero needs to get the word out. The rifle itself can be had for under $2k. When I first saw these at SHOT, I thought if they could get it to market for under $2k they're going to do well. I'm glad they're able to hit this price point.

And for a little more than $2k you can build a complete rifle with this action, a quality pre-fit, MDT or XLR chassis, Bix and Andy Trigger

But why not just get a Zermatt Origin? I don?t see the draw of the Aero at that price. And once again us lefties are left out.

It's another option, options are good IMO. I also prefer an integrated rail vs. a pinned one. That's the listed price, you might not pay that much
Maybe left handed is in the future.

That's what you get for being lefty.

The Origin is a thousand bucks, bare. For $1100 the Aero includes a barrel.

They actually have the rifles ready to go right at $2k and below if you're ok with not going with a chassis system but a normal stock:

I get it. But if I?m buying a 900$ action and doing a build I?m not sticking a 200$ barrel on it. I think aero is missing the boat by not offering them complete with proof barrels. Seems like a good base for a semi custom hunting rifle. Yes, I?m aware you can just add a proof barrel but if they could offer one included for a good price it would be killer.

You can get a stainless lapped barrel with threaded muzzle for $200? Impressive.
