It's a real issue with .300 blackout AR's. They use the same mag as 5.56 and the barrel is covered by the handguard so you can't see the barrel marking. It's not even easy to see the bore because of the flash hider.

20 gauge shell in a 12 gauge chamber is another bear trap to avoid.

        Very lucky indeed.
Another bear trap... A .308 Winchester (7.62x51) cartridge in a Winchester model 70 in 270 Win rifle. Kaboom.

        Best regards,

There's a famous photo of a Savage with a banana peel for a barrel. A guy fired a 308 cartridge in his 270 Win chambered rifle. The 308 bullet headspaced on the 270's shoulder in the chamber. The shooter said that the bullet actually made it out of the barrel (after splitting it) and hit the target about 2 feet low at 100 yards.

I'm guessing these are not proper swaging techniques and not approved on this forum.

I have watched (from a safe distance) 50bmg shooters use a hammer to operate their bolt handle.
That is commonplace especially with a McMillan action and its extremely short bolt handle. A 9/16 deep socket and extension can be used for extra leverage.
