I had been looking for a lever action for a while and recently found a Rossi92 in .357 that I picked up last week. Have yet to test fire it as ammo has been scarce, but really looking forward to shooting it as one of the first rifles I ever shot as a kid was a Winchester 1892.

It seems like the guns a pretty scarce, too. Good for you finding one. I wish a bought a Rossi 16” 92 with a loop lever when they were pretty available. Or even a regular lever. I thought about having my Browning 92 cut down but that’s a lot of work and money just so I could spin it like John Wayne and The Rifleman. Though Chuck Connors gun was a standard carbine barrel length.
Let’s see what yours looks like. .357 is really ideal for these guns.

My rear sight went flying after about 10 rounds (stainless 454 Casull) because the dovetail cuts in the barrel were too shallow. Same with the front sight.

This will take some expert gunsmithing to resolve and I haven't engaged a shop to talk about fixing this yet.

This is on my short list...

That sounds crappy bergmen. I have shot 357 magnum and .38 special but those buckhorns just stick up way too much when putting in a gun sock, plus the aiming isn't quite as easy getting that steel bead centered in it. I could have better accuracy with better sights I think. Good luck with gunsmith. I have shot reloads out of mine Daze without hiccups; mostly .38 specials. I haven't tried wadcutters though; mostly RN or FN jacketed. Have a blast with that Rossi when you find ammo.

I have two, one is a 16" in .357, the second is a 20" in .44 magnum. They are both great shooters. I sold another .357 that I had bought in 1981 and put thousands of rounds through. After 40 years all the springs except the hammer spring had become weak and the firing pin broke. Fitting a replacement FP was a chore. I sold it and got 3/4 of what I needed for a new carbine. I think the new .357 will far outlast me.

I used a long Marble Arms Bullseye Rear Sight, but the short elevator because the long elevator butted up aginst the frame

I replaced the plastic follower with one I cobbled from a 1/4 drive steel Socket, the spring was replaced (probably unnecessarily).

The Brownells site states that Rossi has a different size of dovetail that will not allow this sight to install. Did you have any trouble with your installation?

I don't recall, since I used put 'em on my Puma '92 and Winnie '94.
One of 'em needed a little fitting. Using the sage old advice, the cheaper part was modified - I used a triangular file to address the dovetail on the Sight.
The original sights are retained should some future owner want to reinstall them.

I've had a few that were loose, front and back. I just shim em with some shim stock or aluminum can..
