I enjoy shooting my Rossi 92 whenever I get a chance. I know all the faults in the rifle. One major fault is the supposedly too long of a spring in the magazine. Well, I was loading the rifle and the weirdest thing happened; one round went into the magazine and when I followed it with a second round it went into the tube but then was pushed out but not into the chamber or out the loading gate. It actually jammed itself into the area behind the loading gate with another round not fully in the magazine tube. So, here I am trying to unload the rifle but the two rounds are pressing up behind each other and blocking the loading gate from opening. While the action was open I tried pulling one of the rounds out into the chamber. Didn't work. They were too tight behind each other. After some wiggling and pulling and pushing, one came out and the other. It was a pain in the ***. The rifle looked okay and so did I. Get your laughs in.

Nobody's laughing. We have had similar things happen. Next time, remove the magazine cap and unload the rifle that way. Take 3" off of the spring while you're at it..

Not to hijack the thread, but I have a sling swivel on the magazine tube of my Browning B92. Can it slip off by removing the cap like that?Comment

Hey Wyatt!
I think those are 2-pc affairs that clamp onto the mag tube. But if the sling mount in one piece, then you'd have to drop the tube enough to clear the muzzle end mag dovetail stud which may mean you'd have to remove the forend's barrel band and the forend.

Thanks Calgunners. I disaseemblied the magazine cap and release the tension. That's exactly how I got the rounds out 200apples. I also did take the 3 inches off the spring too. That plastic magazine spring cap has to go too so I will be ordering one since I don't have a lathe or work with metal. I haven't used it much but when I went out to the desert last year, everyone who were shooting their slicked out ARs wanted to try. Lol.Comment

Yep, most folks really get a kick when they shoot a lever gun. Something about 'em.Thanks Calgunners. I disaseemblied the magazine cap and release the tension. I'd join if I lived down there. Do they shoot at a range or out in the dessert? I was with a friend in Joshua Tree and he said we couldn't shoot in the dessert because the lead hurt the spotted owls or whatever. Did we just go find a discreet spot and shoot anyway? Uh hmm, of course not. That would be illegal!Well, why?! in the h. e. double-hockey-sticks don't I see your name on the MLC membership roll?

Dagnabbit, Wyatt... I don't see your name on there, either.
We gotta fix that.
With your persmission, of course. Don't need to be local to be part of the MLC. Just have a love of levers.
We shoot San Bernardino County BLM where centerfires can be legit discharged.

I happen to own a Rossi ‘92 in .357 Magnum, and to its credit, it works as it should. Not crazy about the sights, but it seems accurate enough from my notes. I will say that it is 1,000% better than a Marlin that I once owned in the same chambering. No need to rehash that.
I’ll keep the Rossi.Comment

I haven't heard about this yet but I'm sure it's true.
I've heard that the some of the reasons they shut down BLM land is because we get too much rain and/or not enough rain.
I have 3x357 Rossi 92s in 3 different configurations(I say this like I'm proud) and there's something wrong with each one of them, but they all shoot really good. Some 180gr RNFP cast/coated bullets and some 2400 powder does wonders for them.It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.
Happiness is a warm gun.
