    Browning bolt guns

Hey guys, happy Friday to all...

I'm looking at bolt guns again. I really like the Browning X-bolt hunter.

Just looking for feed back on these guns. Does any body have any experience with them?

I think they are made in Belgium.

I'm looking at guns with wood stocks. It will be a hunting gun for my son, grandson/s

    A couple others

Got to love the Winchester 70. It's too purdy for me. I'll drop it on the carpet and mess it all up.

Good gravy, $1400. Check Cabela's, they seemed to have cornered the market on Super Grades. Used to be $1300, probably $1400-1500 AC.

Mark, PM sent. The A-bolts, in my opinion, are a better looking and slimmer rifle than the X-bolt. Have time behind the trigger of a couple A-bolts, none with a X-bolt. Ain't no flys on an A-bolt.
That A-bolt in your OP, that is what I'm talking about. Splendid rifle.

        Thanks Tom...
I'm far from spending money right now. I don't mind paying MSRP but those prices are crazy..got to get another safe before guns...

I have and have been hunting with an X-Bolt Medallion in 300WM for many years. It's been flawless and I love it. Accurate, plenty precise, light, reliable, and purty enough to get compliments in several states and a few countries.

I guess that barrel replacement on them is not worth it, so once it's shot out it's not worth working on, but I suppose I'll get many more years out of it at my current rate of use.

Love me some Xbolts, have a 270 and a 3006. Accurate n nice to look at quality stuff. The Abolt3 or AB3 has a plastic trigger n trigger guard n jus didn’t feel good to me, but i have no experience actually shooting an AB3.

I have an A-Bolt II Medallion in .300 WSM and an X-Bolt Medallion in .308. I love them both, extremely accurate, excellent triggers, superbly made, smooth as butter.

The plastic rotary magazine of the X-Bolt seems flimsy but works perfectly. Easily removable and inserted. I also like the push button bolt release while on safety, easy to clear the chamber with the safety on.

With the A-Bolt, the floor plate needs to hinge open to get to the box magazine. Not bad, just a little more involved than the X-Bolt mag. Also, can't lift the bolt handle with the safety on. That's okay, much the same as many bolt actions.

Both made by Miroku and virtually flawless. Both of these are outstanding rifles.

Yeah, I just don't have hardly any time with a X-bolt, so, I really can't judge. The two A-bolts I've shot both have metal triggers and guards; don't know about later ones. Haven't read any negatives on either model actually Shooters do say they're accurate as heck.

I have a couple of X-Bolts, but they both have synthetic stocks, and I love them. They're nice and light, accurate, and have smooth actions. To be honest, I like them better than some of the other rifles I have that cost twice as much.

Another Calgunner already said this, but I will confirm that the Xbolt is made in Japan, not Belgium.

Buy one. You'll be happy with it.

Some of the older Browning's were indeed made in Belgium; like the Safari Grade models. Not sure if those are still offered any longer.

Golfish, either of the 2 X-Bolts you listed would be perfect. Just need to think about size of shooter. I bought my daughter (15) a Micro Midas Hunter in .243. It fits her perfectly. With a slip-on pad, the LOP is good for me, but the barrel seems a little short.

The x-bolt is fantastic. Sixty degree bolt throw and Browning twists their barrels fast which allows you to shoot the latest high BC bullets and copper. The only thing I've heard is that the triggers are a bit heavy, but you can replace the spring and take it down to a light pull.

Another happy twice A-Bolt owner here, haven't handled an X-Bolt. Good shooting, whatever you buy.

Triggers are adjustable (set at factory at 4 pounds, adjustable from 3-5 pounds). I made mine as light as possible and it worked fantastic.
