Only after opening it is it obvious that it’s old, obsolete news.

Not quite. It was the latest state of the Marlin art before the sale and the move.

Ruger will pick things up and build these things well. Will we see all the models in that presentation again for sale? One may only hope.

Let's give Ruger a chance with this. I'm looking forward to seeing what they do. Actually, it'd a pretty good idea to sell gun "packages" for CAS, i. e. a Blackhawk/Vaquero and an 1894, both chambered for the same cartridge.

I hope they keep making the 1895 SBL in .45-70. I wanted the Jurassic World gun for a while now for some reason.

We completely understand. This firearm was also featured in a recent picture titled "Wind River" with Jeremy Renner.

When the new 1894 SBL appeared (.44 Magnum in the smaller, 1894 receiver), someone chimed in, "Wind River Lite!"

            IMG_0126.jpg

Cartridge on the left is a 270 grain Speer Deep Curl over 18.7 grains Vihtavouri N110 in .44 Magnum brass for 1500 fps from 16" of barrel.

Cartridge on the right is a 255 grain MBW Keith LSWC over 7.7 grains Unique in .44 Special brass for 1000 fps. Revolver is a New Model flat top Blackhawk .44 Special, 4-5/8" barrel. Loads run across a LabRadar.

Not quite .45-70 ballistics, but close.

I have an 1895 GS and shoot leisurely loads from it: 400 grain Speer sjfp over 24 grains Alliant 2400 for 1250 fps, similar to Remington's CoreLokt "Safe In All Rifles" Trapdoor loads of 405 grain slug @ 1300 fps.

Chico Sportsmans has a Marlin 1894 Cowboy in .45 Colt in case anyone is looking for one.
