So, after following the link, I see no mention of Ruger, and also note that this was for 2020. What is new here that I’m missing? -

It looks like Marlin literature obtaind by Ruger in the purchase. Don't believe anything has actually taken place this fast.

You aren't missing anything.
The Ruger website does not mention the purchase of Marlin.
The Marlin website does not mention the purchase by Ruger.
The Marlin Catalog link (on the Marlin website) directs you to a 2020 pdf file with "ruger" in the web address. Who cares?
I wish folks would wait until there is something substantial, informative or useful to post about Marlin.
This is just one of many useless threads here regarding the Marlin transition.God Bless America - My iTrader rating - https://www.calguns.net/forum/market...2-transactionsComment

Some nice looking rifles - even a “Trapper” model 336. The “Dark” models intrigue me, though if the Walnut stocked models came with the larger more open lever I’d stay with wood stocks and blued steel.
This is a PDF that any! Marlin aficionado should download and keep for oft perusal.
It's a wonderful presentation of modern Marlin Firearms, and I am confident they will be in some very good hands with Ruger.

The Ruger website had an announcement for a while, just the pr release. The Marlin website has gone through a couple of series of changes, they've been doing work behind the scenes but no full announcement.
Most of what they changed makes sense. The Marlin custom shop stuff is gone, no specific products listed anymore under any of the model series. Before it got to the current very limited state I seem to remember some of the product lines shrinking; no more 444s for instance. Can't verify at this time.
If I was a betting man I figure they'd launch a reduced line at the start, with the most popular items going out first. Things like the dark line, and standard versions in 357/44/30-30/45-70. If they're smart they'll bias production to fancier models to take advantage of pent up demand. After they get production fully worked out they'll expand a bit, and get into more specialized products.
Big questions would really be what their rimfire lineup will look like and do they have any plans for the less popular calibers. My guess in the calibers will be like #1s, with a limited selection annually. I kinda want a dark 444, that's not something I am guessing will be coming anytime soon if ever. And prices on gunbroker are more reasonable than the other dark models, but still more than I want to pay right now.Comment

I hope so also. Wasn't intended as a slap down, just looked like last years Marlin line-up before they were purchased by Ruger. That .444 would be damn nice.

Been seeing a few dark 444s on gunbroker for 1800ish range. That's way better than 45-70s, which are at "are you really attached to both your kidneys?" range. Regular 444s are more at slightly above retail range. Just looks like a fun round to reload for, everything from 44mag +p levels to shoulder crushers.Comment

Dang, I have no need for a .444 but I REALLY like that 444 Dark! Oh man, and that .45 Colt 16” is hot!Last edited by plumbum; 02-02-2021, 3:45 PM.Originally posted by ysr_racerPlease don't bring logic and reason into an interwebs discussion
