To echo this. A while back we were looking at the Henry Carbines in .357 with the 16.5" bbl, very seriously. 7 rounds is what it holds. For pure portability reasons that is only one more than a regular revolver, the same as some and one less than some revolvers these days. Now we'll probably still get one as the wife is looking for a shorter saddle gun and they are cool as heck. But there ya go.

I got the Big boy in 357 several years ago. and have added a few more Henry's along the line. And of course after I get mine they start adding the side loading gate. But the 357 goes well with all my other 357/38 revolvers. I have sworn I will not add another caliber to my collection. Which ever you choose you will enjoy it.

Do you have a .45 Colt rifle?

And I just saw that they came out with the steel carbine in side loading. Guess I need a new rifle.

Thx for the suggestions. Took a while but finally got my X in 357 magnum over the weekend. Now time to go test it out.

The action is really smooth and the trigger felt pretty good too. Will know more after some range time.

Was able to get some 357 ammo as well, a bit more pricey than 9mm/45 or 223 though. At least there is availability, but typically around $1 per round for FMJ (a little less, but still). AT least will shoot slower with a lever than a semi

PS - scopes on lever actions look lame.

Looks aren't everything. I drive an old pickup. It does what I need.

Got to love a 357 out of a 16" barrel. IMO, it's the best overall round for a pistol cal lever gun. Please give us a range report
It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.

Any opinions/experience with Colt 45, in a lever gun?

I've got a Winchester model 92 in 45 Long Colt. It's a fun gun to shoot. The 92 action can handle some pretty hot loads too.

Yes. Have one [lever gun] in said caliber, a Henry and two Italian 1873 replicas in same. All take two different loads with good accuracy.8.0-8.5gr Unique or 7.2gr Universal, both with 250 gr lrnfp bullets. Outstanding guns to desert plink with. The revolvers are a Pietta "Gun Fighter", other is a Uberti/Taylpr;s "Old Randall" with Taylor"s tuned trigger work.

                              Thank you Gentlemen,
I have .357M, and 45LC revolvers. Thinking about a lever gun, and considering either caliber. Considering my self-control issues, I should do both as they come available 😃
