I want a threaded muzzle and I want a short bolt lift.

I've got a Howa 1500 in .223 with a varmint barrel that shoots groups under an inch. I use it with a tripod or sticks and shoot a 2" diameter steel plate at 100 yards to vary the practice routine.

My other .223 is a Tikke T3. Same drill. My only complaint with that rifle is, in the summer I'm limited to three shots before the barrel needs to cool.
The only T3x I've seen threaded is online, never seen one irl. The CTR in .223 doesn't come to the U.S. In fact, Tikka makes a lot of cool rifles they think we don't deserve.

But while I was surfing around I came across this Sauer:

Looks weird and cool, but not sure I want to spend $1500 on it. Good thing I'll probably never see one in person.

Kind of interesting. I don't know anything about X-bolts. Never played with one, but Cabela's carries them. The thing is they put trigger locks on everything. How are the triggers?

X Bolt triggers are pretty decent. Ive seen threaded Tikkas in stock as recent as 6 months ago. Harder to find for sure but they are out there. Not many short lift options that fit your targets.

I have a X-Bolt in .223. Trigger is smooth & breaks like glass. Mine is a composite stalker with a standard sporter barrel. I really like this rifle, but need to let the barrel cool between shots. Had it at the range this morning

The only threaded Tikka I've seen is a CTR or old discontinued Tacticals and they were .308.

                Bergara?
All of them do something better than the 30-06, but none of them do everything as well.

That sort of barrel is unlikely to be threaded, so they are sort of eliminated from consideration anyway.

Savage 110 Predator in 223. Save $$ for good glass to drop on it and a good can.

Since OP is non Cali I think a silencer is in the equation eventually.

Short bolt lifts are HEAVIER than standard 90 degree bolt lifts because they have to have a steeper cocking cam angle to get the firing pin cocked in less degrees of rotation.

What's your specific reason for wanting the lift to be shorter and heavier?
