Your going to like that one. Mine has a wonderful trigger...
It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.

I recently picked up two Gunfighters in 45 Colt so I wanted to try something different with the Smokewagon in 357 magnum. I will DROS the Smokewagon on Monday or Tuesday then when I pick it up I want to take all three to the range together. I'm expecting them to perform well since Taylor's and Uberti both have good reputations.

I ordered a Mossberg shotgun at Turner's today. Not that rare, right? Still can't find what I want locally, and prices on GB are insane. I called yesterday, and they told me on the phone it would probably take a few weeks. But the person said they had ordered a couple on June 11th that arrived on June 25th, so maybe not that bad.

Today I drove over an hour to my closest Turners. Line wasn't bad, was at the counter in 20-30 minutes. I live in the Bay Area, and most gun shops up here are by appointment only, and they aren't answering the phone, so good luck getting an appointment.

Get to the counter, tell him what I want, he tells me late October / early November! I figured, what the hell, not in any real hurry, I have lots of other guns to shoot in the meantime, so I ordered it.

The document I signed is titled "Layaway." Not sure if everyone gets this same form. This says "THis layaway will be considered cancelled if the total purchase price is not paid in full and the merchandise not picked up by the specified date." On another part of the page, it says "Final layaway date 7/27/2020."

Obviously, I can't pick up the gun by that date if the store doesn't have it. I have no doubt that I will get my money back in that situation, if I don't want to wait any longer. I intentionally put it on a credit card just in case there is any dispute about that. Given Turner's is charging the regular price, and Gunjoker is running about 2x, I'm probably OK waiting till November if that is what it takes.

Of course, with Remington's bankruptcy, that's a whole nother situation.

My Form says layaway but I also remember the box saying if I don't like the gun when it comes in, I have to use the deposit on another gun. Not sure about cancelling altogether.

If it exists, most of the time you can find it on Gunjoker. But you will be paying "full market price." No sniping. When auction ends, if there was a bid in last 15 minutes, auction will be extended repeatedly until no bid for 15 minutes. So when you "win" an auction on Gunjoker, you can be absolutely sure there is no fool willing to pay more for it at that moment.

Having said that, I have bought a few guns off of it. In my own experience, I have done better with guns that were not particularly glamorous or hot sellers. And it's not a perfect system, sometimes there are deals to be had because no one else is paying attention at that moment. But many sellers refuse to sell to California because of out BS laws, so it restricts your options.

                Like everything else, YMMV.

I am nearly certain there are zero new CSBLs to be had in America right now. No one can say when they will be available. I tried giving my local shop a deposit for the first one they get in but they could not accept my money in good conscience. I looked at every website I could, I called shops in numerous states. I even emailed and called Marlin. No one, not even Marlin, could tell me when I might see a new CSBL on the shelf. I’m sure you will get it someday, likely months from now, just be very, very patient. Or, as other have suggested, get your deposit back and hit the used market.

^ ^ ^ Folks must be hard up for guns 'cause that one is already commanding $1425... with only 6 bids and 4 days left to go.

Of course, one could always pay almost $1000 over street price and Buy It Now...

Makes me glad to have one in .44 (1894 SBL).

Interesting. That is not in my form. Maybe they do have multiple versions.

Now that's a nice looking rifle. I'm making an appointment tomorrow to DROS the Smokewagon revolver so I'll probably put the Taylor's lever action on layaway then.

I've never owned a 1873 but they do seem to cycle faster and slicker than any other, except for the other early Winchesters.

I bought a Marlin 1894C Dark as soon as I saw one. It was $900 and I thought that was a lot.

They are going for $1700 now.

I put a Red Dot on mine and it is very, very accurate. I am impressed.

If the value goes up any more I may have to trade it for an 1873! Ha! Just kidding (maybe).
