Ordered Marlin 1894 at Turners, will I actually get it?

Thursday, I ordered the Marlin 1894 CSBL .357 from Turners in Victorville. They didn't have one in the warehouse and seemed iffy on it ever coming in.

My family member used to work there and said there is no automated list to keep track of orders and that a person just has to check each week to see if one came in. He said many times those orders end up sitting forever and not followed up on.

Does anyone know the process or know if Marlin will be shipping them to Turners in the Future?

Any suggestions to follow up with out being a pain?

Yes I agree. I just used to enjoy the process when I lived in Tennessee during the Army. Buying a gun in California is just so miserable sometimes.

Big mistake. Deposit is not refundable.
Only buy it if in the warehouse and wait till gets delivered to the store.

HMM, I will probably use it on something else, but I am wondering if it's worth waiting on at all. Is Marlin actively making and shipping these? Anyway to find out?

I ordered a Marlin through Turners (different model). Pre-COVID-19. It took a long time but I eventually got it. Wouldn't make the purchase these days.

if the item is in their current catalog, then technically the answer is yes. But that doesn't mean they literally are.

As I understand it how it works (not just with Marline, but everyone), there isn't a dedicated line for every single catalog item listed. With few exceptions things are done in batches. Based on wholesaler and larger factory direct dealer orders, they schedule a run of a particular offering.

If something like the Marlin 1894 CSBL isn't selling like hot cakes, they might only do a run of these once or twice a year. how many in a run depends on however they calculate it to be worth their time to schedule a run.

You will need to pester them. Also I don't think Turners is a first tier distributor. They are probably buying from Davidson's or others.

I'd still be pushing them hard or demand your money back for your deposit if they can't perform. There is no such thing as a Non Refundable Deposit in Retail Sales. If they can't fill the order they must give you your deposit back. End of Story and a place as big as Turners can't even think about keeping your deposit. If they screwed you your recourse could be endless bashing on the Internet, Yelp and about 15 other places that could really affect their bottom line. They won't screw you and if they try go right directly to the manager of the store and if he won't then go to corporate.

Hot tip: Never buy any gun sight unseen!!!! I don't know how many times this needs to be stated here! If the gun comes in and it is a POS, you aren't going to get your money back. You got what you ordered, and it's not their fault it's turd. You'll just have to send it back to the Factory and get it fixed yourself.

I've ordered four guns from my local Turner's recently. Two were from the warehouse and two were from a distributor. Each time I placed the order while I was there picking up a new gun. Each time they arrived well within the thirty day waiting period so they were available when I was able to DROS.

The Marlin factory was shutdown due to the Covid restrictions put in place by Gov Cuomo in New York. It may or may not be operational now, I don't know.

The supply of .357 caliber marlins has dried up. At one time recently there were over 90 for sale on Gunbroker. It got to as little as 7 two days ago. It is now up to 17. (I follow this closely as I buy a lot of Marlins.)

As far as buying a rifle sight unseen I would respectfully disagree. I do it all the time. Granted I use an FFL that I have been using for a long time, The Gun Range in N Highlands CA. We have an understanding. If any gun I order is not up to snuff then I return it. I don't know about Turner's, I have never shopped there. But I have to believe most reputable dealers will do the same. Just verify that fact up front.

While dealing with The Gun Range I have returned Henry's, Rugers and CZ's.

And I have to believe that Turner's would return your deposit.

Marlin customer service is pretty solid, albeit things are not normal at the moment. My experience is they make things right.

The 1894 357 csbl is pretty hot during normal times, right now I expect demand is much higher. Super fun rifle but it is probably gonna be a pita to find one. And that's not accounting for whatever is going on with Remington.
