Hello everyone im new to the thread ... i currently own a 1963 marlin 336rc in 30/30. ive been looking for other calibers of 336 and i came across a 35rem from 1960. The owner of the 35 was willing to trade it to me for a remington model 7400 in .308 that ive had in the safe for awhile... it never gets any use and im more interested in the lever guns right now. Does this seem like a worthy trade? I was hoping to get some opinions from this thread. Thank youComment

Marlins in .35 Remington are very highly sought after guns. Especially back East. the one you got was a 1960 model?If it is in good condition you will be able to ask whatever you want for it and get it down the road.
Rem 7400 in .308 are not going to be that popular, and I think you done good.

The 7400 doesn't really do anything for me. I'd rather have a BAR II for that sort of thing. I've become a bit of a Marlin guy over the last couple years though, and would love to have a 35 in good shape.
If you don't want it, I'll buy a 7400 and trade the person for their Marlin.

I agree about not caring much for a 7400. That said, a 308 seems to be the least common, at least in my travels. Always a 30-06 or 270 in every gun store, but I rarely see a 308.

I usually take the hoods off, because I like peep sights, and the hood makes it a little awkward If you do want a hood, they're pretty cheap, but period correct for a 1960 is a round top, instead of flat like the '70s and later models had.Never initiate force against another.
