    Rifle around $500

I need help chosing a rifle. I have about $500 to spend. I would like to have one with a detachable magazine, heavy threaded barrel and I think I want it in 300wm. I currently reload plinking ammo for 223 and pistol calibers.

Look for a used rifle. That $500 will go a lot further.

In general, you are asking for too much for that price.
Everyone wants all that for that price.
          Manufacturers don't offer it though.

The closest you might get would be a Mossberg MVP LR in 308.
That will have a threaded muzzle, DBM that takes LR308 mags and a heavy threaded barrel.
The only thing you are giving up is the 300 win mag chambering.

Yup, except about 4 days late. They had a $100 rebate on the 110 Tactical. Medium heavy barrel, AICS magazine, threaded muzzle, accu-trigger, accu-fit stock, etc.

I saw a video where a T/C bolt gun shot very well with handloads. The throat was extra long, so factory ammo shot like crap.

Mossberg Patriot is under $500, and some cartridges are fairly accurate. Haven't heard on the winmag.

A heavy threaded bbl and DBM is going to cost you OP.

Especially if you want the DBM to be AICS pattern.

Even used, you'll be hard pressed to get all you want for $500.

                            Doesn't know better.

A heavy barreled 300 us useless as a hunting/field rifle so it must be for target shooting.
6.5 Creedmoor has similar external ballistics to a 300 but people don't realize it.
They think a 308 is too wimpy for "longrange" shooting because that's internet lore.
They don't even know WHAT longrange shooting is, most of them considering 400yds to be longrange.
They think they are going to switch from the 100/200yd shooting they have been doing and go right to 1000/1500yds and it's going to be just as easy because they don't understand wind.
