.357 Lever Action. Rossi, Henry or Marlin
Tags: None -
Used Marlin 1894 in .357, but they're desirable, therefore not many remain for-sale-used for long..

I've had a Rossi 2-3 years. don't shoot it a lot, but every time I do it has bang. No issues other than it's a little hard to load the last 2-3 rounds and the edge of the feed ramp is sharp so it bites me when trying to push the last rounds in.sigpic
Get involved, let's fix these 2nd Amendment misunderstandings.
It's not the size of your gun that counts, only the fun factor...Comment

I’m partial to the Rossi 92 which is a copy of the Winchester 1892. Only disAdvantage would be that you can’t mount a scope/red dot on the back of the receiver. The base guns can be worked on for the loading issues reported and be slicked up better than the Marlins , IMO.Last edited by Fatcat; 11-10-2019, 2:56 PM.Comment

Just got a Rossi 92. I wanted a model 92 only because the action is stronger than a 73 and I didn’t want to pay the Winchester price for a 92. I went with the .44 mag because I already own a .44 revolver and had a lot of ammo. I only got it out of dock about 10 days ago and took it out today. It ran fine for 100 rounds and was “pistol caliber lever gun accurate”.Buying a safe and sane firework is like paying a hooker for a hug. I do not see the appeal in it.Comment

Rossi 92 is fine. Comparing side by side with a Henry, you'll find the Henry is nicer in the details. The Rossi will have sharp edges and you can tell Henry takes more time/effort at the factory (hence higher price). Either choice is fine. If 357/38 chambering, you also have the option of Winchester, Uberti, Chiappa and Taylor's—all of which are a cut or two above the Rossi in fit and finish. Marlins and Henrys are fine rifles, but I personally prefer the visual appearance of the classic model 92s and 94s.Last edited by fmunk; 11-10-2019, 3:31 PM.Comment

If you don't mind spending a grand, the Winchester 92 short rifles are nice. The new Malins are good, the soon to be Henry side loaders in 357 could be a game changer and the best of both worlds being able to use both loading options.
Good choice with the .357/.38sp.It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.
Happiness is a warm gun.

I like tinkering so fine tuning a R92 fit me well. 357 mag 16" bbl tons of fun to shoot.Comment

I enjoy my Henry Big Boy with the brass receiver and octagonal barrel. It looks great and shoots well. The tube feed doesn't bother me, my first gun was a .22 rifle with tube feed. The fit and finish is really good. If the tube feed is a sticking point maybe their new side gate rifle will eventually be chambered in 38/357. But I can't give a testimonial on that style, I can with the tube fed.Send Lawyers, Guns and Money - On second thought, hold the Lawyers.Comment

I like my Henry's, BB brass in .357/.38 and BB steel in .45 Colt. The steel is about a 1.5lb lighter than my brass one. Might be looking for a lighter .357 lever gun. But, those Henry's shoot! Slick as a whistle too.
