First .224 Bolt gun I've seen

I just saw this. Savage has chambered the .224 Valkyrie in their 110 line of bolt guns.

Frank Galli of Sniper's Hide has a custom built one that he's shot very long distance on youtube. Not a production one like the Savage though.

Interesting but if you are going to use a bolt gun why not get the Savage 22.250 in the 1-9" twist and shoot the 70 grain bullets 300 fps faster?

It won't be going faster than a 90 gr bullet out of a .224 forever. The speed advantage gets smaller with every yard.

Yeah, thats why I own a few. But they would sell more rifles if they went with a 1:8 or 1:7 twist. Most of the people wanting a Valkyrie want to shoot the heavies.

But I agree with you, id rather have a fast twist 22-250Ai or similar.

The Savage bolt actions have interchangeable barrels.

Reading threads about the merits of different calibers isn't just informative, it's also very entertaining.

I think the proliferation of cartridges is part of a conspiracy to sell more guns to people who already have everything.
