I just picked up a Ruger No1B in 6.5X284. Which, when it comes to accurate long range shooting, is much like seeing a pretty girl in a bikini - and finding out she's a nun. Looks nice, but what's the point?

So keep the same chassis, trigger, action and scope and just fit a new barrel.
It will feel the same but you will be shooting 6.5 instead of 308.
If you don't fool with the action/bolt, you can switch barrels back and forth easily as each will be headspaced to your action.

I think I’m going to go with a bergara hmr premier. Seems like the upgrades from the base hmr are pretty good.
