That to my mind that is EXACTLY the way to go if one desires a lever action, and the .45-70 (with proper ammunition) has the stones to stop large bears that are encountered in the very geographical areas that the Co-Pilot was designed for. I say this after spending some time recently at school with a few professionals whom make their living up in Alaska, deep in the woods where they have had numerous actual encounters with large bears.
One of those pros actually had a Co-Pilot, but sold it after needing to have it re-timed by WWG after a bit of use. It's a neat concept for sure, but not all really that practical, and the weight isn't any less.

[QUOTE=200Apples;22781747]Funny. Never looked at it that way. Doesn't tacticool stuff have to be black?

Curious, do you own or shoot any pistol-caliber lever carbines/rifles? or any .45-70 Gov't-chambered piece?

Doesn't have to be black but that one is all black.... covered in some horrendous mlok rail and all kinds of other junk.

I do own some lever guns my favorite is my 336 30-30 it's probably one of my favorite guns.

And a good one that is!.....Perfectly suitable for everything that a .30-30 can handle. And that's a lot.

It’s a niche gun. If you are an Alaska pilot and might need a rifle, it is a great fit.

The take down feature is nice but I don’t need it.

          The other work
          Sights
          Scope
          Trigger
          Loop handle

          Are all nice upgrades
Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT

I would rather have a rifle that dosent need to be assembled when it is removed from any vehicle; car, truck, boat or plane. That to my mind would greatly slow you down, being that some wild critters come out of thick brush that is close to where one might tie-off a boat or plane. Just my humble 2 pennies.

That's not the point of this gun. If you're trying to assemble it when you're being charged by a bear, you're an idiot.

It's simply a convenience for easy transport when space is limited or prying eyes are watching. If you're in harms way, it would already be ready to rock. You can easily assemble it in the boat, plane, or truck before exiting.

                He's not that, rest assured.

But you have described, and very well, the merits of a takedown: "It's simply a convenience for easy transport when space is limited or prying eyes are watching." ...which I was having trouble finding so few words for. Thank you.

An AR in .300 Blackout is close enough to .30-30 and breaks down easily, and a LOT cheaper. An AR in .458 SOCOM is similarly comparable to a .45-70. Plus, if you really need short, an AR pistol is the lightest and shortest of all.
