About $2,500.00 too expensive for a lever gun, I don't care how cool it is.

For me, I guess I'd rather grab a Miroku Winchester takedown in .30-30.for about $1200.00 street price.

I mean, I get it...the action job, cool handguard, the large lever loop, the custom follower/loading gate spring, plus it's built on the stronger 1895 action, and as far as caliber, the .30WCF is not the powerhouse 45-70 is. Personally, though, I wouldn't feel undergunned with a .30-30 within 75 - 150 yards of a toothy/claw-y predator.

All for about, what, $1500-1700.00 out the door (tax, DROS, etc) depending on the scope you choose? Plus, for me putting together a custom gun, with my own custom touches is 1/2 the fun. So it's a big plus that I'd have a ton of money left over for sling/butt cuff/lever wrap/ammo/etc.

I cannot justify the price when I don't need to fit my .44, .41 or .357 levers into a briefcase. They're all pretty short, light and handy as they are, and at 1/3 the cost.

I think it's very cool. Clearly designed for someone needing a TD to stow in a bush plane; but most people don't need that type of compactness. So one would probably be buying it for the uniqueness and custom features.

Given the price point, I'd save some money and get a stock 45-70. Henry Rifles had/has a "concept rifle" in 45-70 ( as seen on you tube) that has a MI fore end mounted in place of the wood. It's not a TD and it's not $3200 bucks.

In the end it's your money and only my opinion. Either way, happy shopping and good luck!

In a Take Down i'd go Taylor's & Co./Chiappa Ridge Runner TD although still a bit of a price but probably less than 1/2 of this one. If you don't necessarily need a take down take a look at Marlin 1895 Trapper it is nice and short, carries well, and handles great.

If I were filthy rich, I wouldn't hesitate for a second to buy one for $3,500.

But for mere mortals, I'd pick up a Marlin 1895SBL and a scout scope for under $1,000 instead.

Or if you have to have a take-down rifle, buy a .50 Beowulf AR with a scout scope for under $700.

I didn't realize that the BLR came in a takedown AND in a normal pointy-bullet caliber. I'm SERIOUSLY stoked, since I've decided to focus my long-gun collection on takedown weapon systems. (just a personal preference, and a 2nd kind of cool in Nutnfancy terms)

Browning has a BLR in 450 MARLIN that is a take down, looks similar to an SBL silver with a grey laminate stock but is has a drop bottom mag and only 3/4 round capacity. I have seen 450 marlin ammo not super expensive and i believe new brass is available for those who reload.

It was shown on Browning's website last time I looked (last month), although availability may be sketchy. I only hope they still make it. But, make it they did, and in .308 it's still not too heavy... as opposed to an aught-six's longer action.

For me, lever guns are classics with a rich historical significance. When someone "modernizes" them, the result is not appealing. Add a ridiculous price point and things get worse. Guess I just showed my age. LOL
