Problem resolved: [malfunction] Timney Triggers for Remington 700

Looking for you guys help please. I bought Timney Triggers Remington 700 Calvin Elite Stage-2 Trigger and installed it on my remington 700 ADL last night. Well, it doesn't work.

Basically, I pull the trigger, the bolt click slightly but doesn't fire, and then I lifted the bolt handle slightly, it fires. It is kind of hard to describe, so here is the youtube video : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2hfuVvqMO1U

well, it is my first time install a trigger, and I didn't adjust anything of the trigger. The Remington 700 was purchased from Dick's, and never an issue.

BTW, I am newbie here on 700/timney-triggers. so just like to clarify something simple/silly here. My 700 is 308, the trigger there is no different between calibers, right?

Send that video to Timney. Your the second person having a problem with that two stage trigger in two weeks.

Most stocks will need to be slightly relieved to fit the Timney without binding issues. The housing is slightly fatter than a factory trigger. 99% chance the trigger is fine, but the fitment between stock and trigger is not.

OP, did you try it before putting it back in the stock? If so, and it works, this is your problem.

Folks , thanks for your suggestions. About stock , I did test it before put the stock on and does not work either. I was thinking the situation may improve with stock, which didn’t. Anyway, I will take stock off and shoot another video

With the barreled action out of the stock cock the bolt pull the trigger then tap on each side of the trigger to see if it allows the firing pin to fall.

Hopefully you get a response from Timney, as in my experience they never replied back to my issue with my RPR trigger so I ended up just returning it. I don't have much confidence in a company that doesn't respond to emails, hopefully you'll experience better.

It's not adjusted correctly send it back and let them adjust it if you don't want to give it a try yourself.
Timney used to be right down the road in the east bay but they moved and now they are in Arizona. You could have driven to there shop and showed it to them.

Don't know about the 2 stage, but my Timney 511 was pretty easy to adjust to 1.75 lbs. Just read the instructions, didn't even need Youtube.

Timney triggers come pre-adjusted for proper sear engagement and overtravel right out of the box.
He does not have a sear-trigger engagement problem.

He has a clearance problem related to stacking of tolerances.
His cocking piece won't clear over the top of the sear when the sear drops after the trigger is pulled.
Adjusting the trigger's sear-trigger engagement will have NO effect on the clearance between the sear and cocking piece in the released condition.
Lifting on the bolt handle creates extra clearance (because the bolt has about 0.008" of clearance in the reciever) and then the firing pin falls.

The solution is to clearance either the trigger or the cocking piece.
Installing a brass tipped set screw in the ADL hole would also solve this.

As for the solutions, I am not sure about how to improve the clearance of cocking piece nor what is a brass tipped set screw. Is there an instruction

Clearance the cocking piece or raise the bolt up into the center of the receiver with a brass tipped screw in the ADL hole.
