    Marlin 1895CBA 45-70

Has anyone shot or tested a Marlin 1895 CBA 45-70. It has the Ballard rifling which I like and am wondering how they tested. TIA

I have a 1895CBA (polished blue, with 18.5" octagon barrel.)

Haven't shot it yet, because I have other 1895s to play with.

The CBA (at least mine) seems to have better fit-and-finish than my other 1895s...

The polished blue finish is perfect. The walnut wood stock is beautiful. Overall, the rifle feels tight, light, and old-school.

With its 18.5" barrel and lighter weight (compares to the stainless steel 1895s that I have,) I would imagine it will have a little more 'snap' on the recoil, relatively.

Sorry, not much help, but I do like mine and I'd recommend it if you can find one.

Thanks, it does help. My dealer already found one and it should have already been ordered. Besides cast smokeless and jacketed smokeless I intend to try black powder/lead in it. In the 675.00 range for these rifles and if they are as good as I hear well worth it. Thanks again.

You will have a lot of fun reloading for this rifle. It is a good rifle for its price. Enjoy.

I picked this one up yesterday I would have shot it except it snowed, was windy (cold) and sorta not fun day to shoot. At this price point it wont get much better without a large increase, but for me it's going to be fine. It's a hunting gun not a safe queen. My wife just told me at lunch today another archery hunter was mauled by a grizzly with a attitude over in MT. No gun I suppose, I'll never understand it.

Rifle season starts this coming saturday and I might go just to see if someone runs a wt doe or a cow elk into where I'm sitting drinking coffee eating doughnuts listening to the radio. I'll take a magazine and maybe a good book to read to.

Maybe you Marlin guys can explain a few things about these 1895 big bore guns and pricing.

                  The 1895CB has a MSRP of $786.00
                  The 1895CBA has a MSRP of $899.00

The CBA is more metal and more gun but its 110.00 cheaper. What am I missing?
It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.

You must be confused, the CBA is a 18.5 inch barrel and the CB is a 26 inch barrel. Why the price difference, couldn't tell you why.

Not confused at all, just swapped the A.

                      It's demand, thats my guess

I could be wrong.... I remember the 1895CBA was some kind of special edition (Cabela's?) with limited number of them made.
