Remember to take into account what day you're running a DROS. My pick up day for my new rifle is next Saturday after 2:45 but Armory Outpost changed their hours of operations from 5 to 1 on Saturdays starting next weekend. My wait just turned into a 13 day waiting period. I'm not thrilled. Sometimes you need to keep a shop that is open 7 day a week in your back pocket.

That happens, and you need to roll with the punches... My original FFL was closed on Saturdays as well as Sunday's. If I did the DROS on a Monday or Tuesday I could pick it up on a Thursday or Friday... If not, a couple more days isn't that big of a deal. BTW it isn't 10 days, but 240 hrs.... :-)Remember to take into account what day you're running a DROS. It is what it is I guess. The fact we wait longer than it takes to hand over the money is a crime in its self...That happens, and you need to roll with the punches... For me, waiting 10 days is rediculous. 3 more in reality is nothing I suppose. I've stopped using 3 FFL's due to availability issues just like this. I used a guy in Folsom for years. He changed availability and started making me wait up to 14 days for pickup. After 3 transactions I was done.
This is the first hickup with Ron. The guy needs time off I guess like everyone else." So you're in Carmichael, and nobody has recommended Robbie at Golden State Tactical yet???? He's less than 10 minutes from you, great guy and very reliable.
You can forget about River City Gun Exchange, those guys run their business like total idiots. The Gun Range used to be a great spot but their fees went up dramatically. They are still a decent enough transfer option because they are responsive and actually answer their phones and emails but their new $75 transfer fee is just too high when there are other FFLs with more competitive rates. Ron at Armory Outpost is great but unfortunately he is a one man team and he no longer makes himself available by phone so you need to use email but he is fairly quick to respond. He is incredibly professional and accommodating and has exemplary customer service.Comment

That sounds like a one-off situation...you got caught in the transition...and Ron needs to sleep, sometimeRemember to take into account what day you're running a DROS. 7-day per week shops usually don't give the service the small shops provide and you may not get better prices even though the bigger shops can get a deeper discount on quantity buys.
Here's the bright side: You're not really old, and you're not really young.
California has had a waiting period for handgun sales since at least 1923. The California Legislature increased the handgun waiting period from one to three days in 1955, to five days in 1965, and to 15 days in 1975.
In 1996, the wait dropped to 10 days.
The 15-day wait in the 70's truly sucked...but, we could buy damn near anything on the market and shoot in our backyards.Comment

Pointing out waiting period laws is like pointing out the paranoid schizophrenic parent in the room. It doesn't make living with them any easier and for some reason their kids usually make excuses for why we need to just deal with the inconveniences that go along with the disease. Liberalism is a mental disorder. Lol...
I'm not a native of CA so waiting to bring home my stuff I just bought isn't part of my culture. And yes, I would have chosen a different place to do the transfer if I knew about the hours changing.
If you lived up here up here by me you could still shoot in your back yard as long as it's big enough. Lol."
