Marlin 1894C .357 Scope Mount Recommendations?

Folks, I acquired a Leupold Vari-X III recently from a local member. I'd like to mount it to my 1894C .357, but have not found a solid determination on which scope mount to go with. I was intending to go with Skinner peeps, but figured I'd have more fun with a variable scope. I've seen super low-flush examples out there using the buckhorn dovetail, but I don't think it looks right.

I would prefer to avoid a full pic-rail. I was considering the Skinner "EXPRESS" Sight with Integral Scope Mount. I'd have backup peeps, but I wouldn't be using the peeps with a scope to begin with.

    Any other recommendations?

DNZ Products Game Reaper seems promising.

Please post what you use. I have a new one on ten day wait and I'm thinking about a scope on it.

Will you be hunting with it or ?
Mine is fun to shoot and to get people trained on the light rifle recoil.
I have a Lyman on my 1894c. if I had to do it all over again , I'd do a Skinner.

This will be a fun gun. I don't intend to take this gal out to the brush. I will probably get a 336 for that down the line. Of course, my experimentation with the 1894 will guide me towards what to do with the future 336.

              Thanks

I did. I read a lot of good reviews, I looked over the gun and pulled the trigger. I've seen a few of them, I wanted one with a little darker wood and lucked out with this one. The wood is a darker black walnut.
I have a couple Rossi's, I figure the new Marlins can't be as bad as them. I would like to run a scope or a red dot on it.

Lots of good deals around that pop up now and then if your willing to wait on the right 336. I found both a vintage 30/30 and 35Rem JM stamped for a very fair price on each. Also lots of fun to shoot.
Never thought I'd get bitten by the lever bug two years ago.
                  Now I have four!
                  Good luck.

Fish, I think the pic-rail design would suit you best. For an RDS, you'll want more rail-space options for placement depending on the RDS. You'd get the ability to mount a scope using pic-scope rings. If you don't go over 40-43mm objectives you should be fine with medium rings.

Skinner is top-notch, but there are other options available on Amazon for sub $60. The Williams Ace in the Hole set might be good for what you want.

Make sure that you check your box for the extended hammer attachment. The old Marlins came with them stickied inside the box. I'm not sure about the new variants.

Well, it seems we here are buying some lever guns recently. I just bought a Henry Big Boy Classic in .357/.38. This is one gun I cannot wait to load and shoot for. Goin' retro boys!

This is how my used Marlin .357 was setup when I bought it, Bushnell Sportview 3x-9x scope, Weaver rings, and unknown scope base.
I've only had the chance to shoot it out to 50yds, but I really like the setup.
The scope is very low, cannot use the irons. I had to move it an inch forward so I could see the reticle clearly.
The only changes I'd make are a larger loop and flip up scope covers.

Yup! I just bought a Henry .22 because everyone needs a Ruger 10/22 and lever gun in 22.
