There are a ton of variables, so many that it's hard to figure out where to start.

Is the scope new, or was it used on another rifle to ensure it's tracking correctly?

Screws on your mount tight?

How is your form? Natural point of aim established? Proper breathing, and trigger control?

Shooting from a rest? Bags? Bipod?

Have you let anyone else shoot it?

I see you're in the bay area; if you shoot at Metcalf, I'm there every Thursday (I'm a regular there).

i dont think im a good shooter, but i have a browning xbolt 308 which i can shoot for 0.5-0.75moa at 100yards. im feeling 2.5moa is defenitely sth wrong w the rifle.

Ive had a few Bergara barrels and none of them shot well.

Have someone else shoot it. If the results are the same, switch the scope.. those Chinese scopes are hit and miss.

Like what Kwikvette said, "there are a ton of variables" but you (xugz0212) haven't really answered them.

I have a Bergara HMR 6.5 Creedmoor and I get sub-moa results but I shoot in the prone position and rifle resting on a backpack. My guess is that if there is nothing wrong with your scope, then you might have poor recoil management.

so let me get this straight...according to your first post...you shot 40 rounds to brake in the barrel correct?
then went straight in to shooting groups? and you shot 5x5 for 25 more rounds for a combined total of 65 rounds?

have you taken your X-bolt out and shot 65 rounds back to back before and held your .5 to .75 groups?

i ask because(and dont take this personal im just being straight)with you asking whats wrong with your gun your pretty new to shooting and for a new-er guy 65 rounds is a lot so like i said id put my money on the problem being you not the gun.

my suggestion...take the rifle and the same ammo back out when your fresh and shoot it again before you change anything...if you are truly capable of shooting .5 to .75 groups then that rifle should do that...ive seen this question asked 500 times and after 500 posts of its head space,its the scope,its the rings ECT 9 times outta 10 it ends up being the shooter.

Thank you so much everyone for the advice. Yea, have to admit I'm pretty new to precision shooting. The sub-moa group from xbolt was made right after breaking in, which made me a bit confused with the performance of my bergara.

Actually I took the bergara to range again yesterday, starting from a cold barrel with two 5*5 groups, 50 in total. There were two sub-moa groups (~0.8moa), while the other 8 are all about 1.5moa to 2moa. So I'm really confused here. Right now I'm suspecting the ADM QD mount as I was told by a few ppl in the range saying it's good for AR but not precision rifle. Just ordered a pair of Badger m40a3 rings to see if it helps.

Honestly, I really wish it's me not the gun or any gears, so I could save money and just more practicing would save the problem. I already talked with Kwikvette@ and fortunately both of us are in bay area so he's going to shoot my gun this Thursday and I'll update here later

Yea, scheduled with another calgunner who's going to shoot it this week to see what's wrong. Not sure if it's the issue of the scope, but the Cronus line is their only top line made in Japan with a good reputations. So hopefully it's not the scope

There are many Bergara owners (On the Bergara Owners Facebook Group) that have Athlon scopes and like them a lot. I doubt its your scope and hopefully you and Kwikvette can figure this out.

Looking at the groups, it could be something more simple such as the type of bags you're using, or rest, or if you're supporting the rear of the rifle all by yourself.

We'll take a look at it this Thursday.

Have you tried different ammo at all? Maybe your gun just doesn’t like that round
