I too got my first H001 on black friday 2017 and I must say, I love it. I am considering a All Weather 357 too from Henry.I am jumping into the world of lever-action rifles, where the vast majority of my previous experience with firearms is modern semi-auto handguns and "AR"-style rifles.
I recently purchased a Henry Classic Lever Action .22, Model H001, from a fellow Cal-Gunner. I just wanted to relate my experience, as a newbie, and get any input from other CGers.
I field-stripped the rifle today, cleaned and oiled it, and got familiar with the design and function.
I already own a .22lr AR-15 "clone" rifle, that I have been shooting for several years.
My fist observation of the Henry is that the parts seem to be much sturdier and beefier than my other .22lr rifle. The trigger spring is thick and substantial, and appears to be either coated or painted.
The bolt and other pieces also feel very solid, and the action of the fully-assembled rifle is very smooth.
Disassembly was easy and uncomplicated, following a simple on-line tutorial.
I will update this after I shoot it for the first time. Input and Opinions are welcome.Comment

I picked up my Marlin 336LB this weekend.
Took it apart and cleaned it, and am hoping to bring it to the range this coming weekend. Will try to post pics of the rifles and some targets.PRAETIUM LIBERTATIS

Addicted to the levers also
At last count my levers were up to 17 and the Henry .22 LR is the smoothest of the smooth. Last purchases were Savage 99s and want more. I had occasion to remove the stock on one and there is where you need to be extremely careful. The stock to metal fit was very tight and it would be easy to break one or even both side panels.
I'm also of the thinking that scopes belong on bolt guns and iron sights on levers, especially tang peep sights on the Savage rifles. Didn't realize how accuracy could be improved with them, although the Garands have peep sights also.Last edited by condor bravo; 01-30-2018, 3:13 PM.Comment

My Marlin 1893 had a tang peep sight on it when I got it. It does improve the accuracy but I find it way more comfortable without it and found I rarely use it. If I am taking shots that I cannot make with the basic iron sights, figure I will grab a bolt gun.At last count my levers were up to 17 and the Henry .22 LR is the smoothest of the smooth. Lever actions are more palatable to anti gunners
I have anti gun friends who want nothing to do with any offer to handle or shoot firearms. Introduce them to a lever action and they are likely to change their minds.
I suspect it has something to do with TV/Movie Westerns.Comment

I've experienced the same with people I work with...if I tell them we are going to have fun John Wayne Wild West style with my Winchester lever action and 6 shot revolver then all of a sudden it's more acceptable than if I suggested an 'evil black rifle' like an AR to shoot with that dayComment

Psychology
It would be interesting to do a psychological study on people's attitude toward "old-west" guns, compared to evil AR's.I've experienced the same with people I work with...if I tell them we are going to have fun John Wayne Wild West style with my Winchester lever action and 6 shot revolver then all of a sudden it's more acceptable than if I suggested an 'evil black rifle' like an AR to shoot with that day

Levers are cool rifles. I have a Savage 99G in .303 Savage that I got for free, and a Winchester in .30-.30 that I got for $50. How could anyone say no to that??
You will never, in your life, have a chance like this again.
If I were you, I would not pass this up. I would not let this go by...this is rare.
Come on...what harm??

I might even turn down an invitation to an "evil black rifle" outing but that's just because I do not care for the looks of them in favor of old fashioned walnut and blued steel. And the latter includes more than I care to mention except for 17 levers and working on another. I guess it's the plastic Matel toy look that's a turn off. Well, on the other hand I probably would accept an invitation to shoot your AR type if I could have all the .223 brass it leaves behind.

I got a scope for the Marlin 336 from another Calgunner.
I am looking at mounting options. I guess my choices are Weaver, or Picatinny.
Does anyone have advice on a setup that they think works well with this lever gun?PRAETIUM LIBERTATIS

LeverGunLeather
The above site has some nice stuff, but I was cheap and thought I could make my own for less. I spent the same money to make my own! But now I have the tools, so hopefully I'll get good at it one day.
