    .224 Valkyrie

What, no mention of this yet?

Fits in an AR-15, supersonic to 1300 yards, 100 grain .22 hunting bullets.

    Yowza.

Surprised it hasn't been pitched to the military, who seems to be perpetually searching for 6.8ish something or other to replace the 5.56x45.

There was a thread on it a week or so ago

Entertaining but seems like finding a good use for it might be an issue.

Pushes a 90 grain bullet at 2700 FPS so no big deal.

For a bolt gun, yeah. But from a AR15 thats a pretty big deal.

It does nothing in a bolt gun that a 22-250 won't do better.
This is the manually operated subforum so fitting in an AR-15 is not relevant here.

22-250 Ackley improved if you really want speed but a real barrel burner. Best little ground squirrel, gofer, varmint - whatever - tool ever. Nothing but vapor trails after contact. Too bad my friend sold his farm - nowhere local to shoot any more so I sold my tool.

Says the guy that shoots 300 grainers at 3300 fps, lol. Yes, you big boomer guys would be unimpressed. But PRS and other guys might like a skinny little bullet that doesn't cause much recoil and cuts through the wind well.

I haven't heard of .22-250's that shoot 90 and 100 grain bullets right out of the chute without any weird tricks.

This thing is not a screamer or whatever. It's in the Creedmoor mold, moderately high velocity, long neck to hold the bullet well, long overall cartridge/case length to allow very long bullets. If they could have called it the 5.56 Creedmoor people would be much more excited about it.

I doubt this will get used in the PRS outside the PRS gas gun series.
The 90gr bullets are not going to be much good for spotting of misses on steel targets past 600yds.

According to JBM's master list of bullets, none of the major bullet makers do.

I'm sure that guys with bullet forming dies have made some to play with though.

Only Berger, Sierra and JLK offer 90gr 0.224" bullets.

And wildcat bullets is another option.

I had no idea those were made.
Too bad they are discontinued, I'd love to have a crack at tuning that monstrosity.
