I've found in the past 5 months two sweet JM spamped Marlin 1894's in 35rem and 30-30. $375_$425 .
Both in great condition. If you reload, it's a bonus in setting them up for felt recoil.
As previously stated, pistol cartridges in a lever is the cat's meow. I also own Marlins in 38/357 and my favorite, 45colt.

I don't think 1894s were ever available in 35 Remington or 30-30, being a short action lever.

Savage 99 is awesome. In regards to loading, the rotary magazine is nice and has a round count indicator

For just a "fun" gun, hard to beat a lever in 357. Pistol cartridge are nice to shoot
