Considering Marlin 1895CB

I wouldn't get caught up on the old rumor mill from 2009-2012 era. As you said, it's been years. Listen to the relevant new stories.
I posted over here
Here's what I said.
I got a Marlin 1895CB in 45-70 with the 18.5" barrel late last year. I love the rifle. It's built well and the quality seems to be great to me. The wood is very nice on it for a production rifle. The only thing I noticed that wasn't perfect is the front sight was slightly off center causing it to pattern off. However, it was off center in the direction that moves it back on target when zeroed. As is with my first few reloads I worked up, I am able to shoot a 1.5" group with pretty stout 405 gr hardcast rounds at 50 yards off a bag.
I'm sure others could do better, but I am very happy with that accuracy for irons with the stout recoil.Kunar Prov, A'stan '08-'09, 1-26 INFComment

Forgot to add:
The action in mine was a little rough when it was brand new, but after the first range trip it had smoothed up considerably. After a few shoot sessions it feels nice now. The lever is a little sharp on some of the angles, but not horrible. The stock trigger wasn't good. I threw in a trigger happy kit. That made it a lot better.Kunar Prov, A'stan '08-'09, 1-26 INFComment
