Hello. I am newer to hunting and rifles. Not new to guns by any means just always preferred pistols and shotguns over rifles. At the moment I have a Kimber Advanced Tactical with a whole bunch of stuff done to it. Waaaaaay too heavy to lug around hunting. Works great heading out to Tx to sit in deer blind. I had the barrel cut/spiral fluted. Made a huge difference in weight. I'll post pictures later.
I see a lot of guys recommending the 5R over a run of the mill 700. My question is- Would putting the 5R Action/Barrel in a Magpul stock negate any of the benefits of it over a regular 700 action? Not to sound like an Ahole but thankfully cost is not an issue. Weight is a consideration but I am 6-0 220 w/visible abs. So the need to be as light as possible is not too necessary. My plan is 700 Action. Magpul Stock. 3-15 NF I have sitting in the safe. What would those of you with more experience/expertise recommend? Thanks.
