More power in the right conditions may work on a SFP optic but look at the same 1800 yard target with a FFP at 35x and chances are the reticle will block the target. If you select a reticle that is open in the center you might see it but if you have crosshairs that connect, you won't see the target.

Don't scope manufacturers typically put different sizes of the same reticle in different models so that they don't get in the way at higher magnifications?

OK, so I finally mounted the scope and had a chance to play with it a little but not shoot it. Here is the skinny, at least for me. I have a 200-250 yard clear view of my front pasture from my gun room and with the magnification turned up to 35x the reticle did NOT cover any sense of a target out to the edge of my property. To be specific, I aimed at knotholes in the fence boarding as well as the bark on an old oak tree and neither were covered by the reticle.

If the fear of covering/hiding a target behind the reticle of an FFP scope is preventing you from getting one then I say go get one because it ain't so, at least for me.

I've shot that scope after the sun sank below the horizon at a 1000yd silhouette late last year. I had to dial back so the image brightened up more, but crystal clear glass.

You will not be disappointed.

I thought the reticle was supposed to cover what I'm trying to shoot... is that why I keep missing! ? Jk.

He mistakenly meant the SFP version, which was hashed out a few comments below his.

Used FFP NF 5-25 F1 are currently going for $2500 or so. No one will an FFP version for $2K.

yeah, i was watching the item on ebay and when it went from 2400 to 2k, i about **** myself. good thing this thread came up to make me look at the model further.
