Not to mention the C446 is SFP.

The ATACR was originally SFP. They didn't update it to FFP (aka F1) until after the BEAST was released.

I did notice that the FFP were more than the SFP and the guys I spoke with said it was worth the extra cost.

That would depend on how you intend to use it. Reticle choice will be critical for those thinking they are going to crank this up to 35 and look at a target at any considerable distance.

That would be me! With my old-er eyes, I was going to punch paper out to as far out as possible and it would be good to be able to see at what I am aiming.

That's the beauty of having more power, you can always turn it down if needed.
Can't turn the 25x model up to 35x when conditions would've allowed it.

We shoot 1800 yards at my buddies place, early evening (when it's cool) I'm frequently above 40x on my Nightforce Competition scope. This is informal, fun, bench shooting. Earlier in the day, it would probably be ~20x.

More power in the right conditions may work on a SFP optic but look at the same 1800 yard target with a FFP at 35x and chances are the reticle will block the target. If you select a reticle that is open in the center you might see it but if you have crosshairs that connect, you won't see the target.

This has been my philosophy throughout my life, that and get the best of an item that you can afford.

The first seems evident but I cannot tell you of the times people would say, "that much ??? is over kill". But as mentioned below, you can always dial it down. Just like getting the 6 cylinder vs the 4. You don't need to jump on it ALL the time but when you need it, many times I've thanked God the extra power was available.

As far as getting the best of an item that you can afford, the saying "buy once, cry once" is definitely true. At least for me!

This is my second NF and first FFP. I will post my experience once I've had a chance to check it out.

On a different note, I just got my RCBS Chargemaster last week. I loaded up 100 rounds of 30-06 this weekend and it took about an hour vs the 3 hours it usually takes. I think I may load up some .308 before the game. I am really liking this thing.

He mistakenly meant the SFP version, which was hashed out a few comments below his.

Used FFP NF 5-25 F1 are currently going for $2500 or so. No one will an FFP version for $2K.
