If you can stretch the budget a little bit, as others have said, get a 4.5-27 gen II. I picked mine up used a couple weeks ago for $2050 and have been impressed with it ever since. You're not that far off."Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid." - Albert EinsteinComment

Tangent Theta, March, Schmidt & Bender, Night Force.
For less look at the Vortex Razor Gen2 series.
After you have chosen the best you can afford, start saving for a quality spotting scope and tripod, find a spotter that has a reticle that matches the rifle's optic exactly in terms of adjustment increments (Mill/Mil, MOA/MOA).
That should keep you busy for some time.Comment

Oh yah, thought good scopes where expensive until I started looking at spotting scope.Tangent Theta, March, Schmidt & Bender, Night Force.

For well under your $1,800 budget you can get either Nightfiorce's 8-32x or 12-42x both have 56mm objectives and 30mm tubes. A number of different reticle styles are available.
They only thing "lacking" is elevation, very simple to rectify with a 20moa base. This will give you a 100yd Zero and elevation past 1K.Last edited by killshot44; 01-06-2017, 9:30 PM.Comment

A similarly priced scope with more travel and less magnification is usually the higher quality and sharper optics choice.
At a given price point, higher magnification rarely lets you see anything more.
Most people will turn their scopes magnification down to get better resolution and wider field-of-view when actually shooting.Randall Rausch

With Optics planet discount this is about $1000.
I like the mil hash on the 25004 for hold overs without need to adjust the elevation.

Second the GEN2 for the same reason...and a WAY more forgiving eye box at higher powers.
