He is specifically building a sniper rifle.
Holy hell man, you prowl these boards offering up so much cowardice its insane.
Go into your bathroom, take a look at yourself in the mirror and remind yourself that you are a man.
"sniper " is a word, and the left aren't going to like guns no matter what you call them.
At some point you liberal gun owners are going to have to see that safe spaces and changing names of your guns isn't going to help us, and running away only makes those people stronger.
You are basically to the point where you fear getting in trouble for using a word in public.

Take a look at Redhawk Rifles at www.redhawkrifles.com

        They build custom guns.

I've bought triggers and stocks and scopes from them but no guns.

        Just another option.

        Good Luck

And to the gentleman above, isn't the ADL out of print, and a no go for this project due to the floorplate?
I was under the impression they were still sold at Big 5 along side the Savages and Ruger Americans. The floorplate isn't an issue when you will be changing the stock anyway, but you'll have to buy bottom metal (i.e. the magazine and fixtures) that didn't come with the ADL. They may no longer sell them, though since the cost of a bare receiver is comparable it'll save you time in not having to sell off extra parts that few people want from a complete donor rifle.

If you want to build up an authentic M40 clone, I can do the clip slot and thumb cuts for you.

Given your stated budget and what you want to achieve, you are going to have to dig up a coffee can in the orchard to augment the $1200 to complete the package.

$1200 wont get you anything like you are wanting. You might be able to get a HTG M40A1 stock, metal bottom metal and a 700 barreled action in 308 with a Factory heavy barrel.

I would steer clear of them.
Lots of problems in the past 10 years with their workmanship.
They seem to produce good guns for the media though...

                      Revolvers are not pistols

pistol nouna handgun whose chamber is integral with the barrel
Calling a revolver a "pistol" is like calling a magazine a "clip", calling a shotgun a rifle, or a calling a man a woman.

I'll take your word for it, I don't own one but I've only read good things about them and I was referred to them by a law enforcement sniper team member back when I was entertaining an m40

Like I said before might as well just buy a M24.
