Bolt Gun Value

OP,
Go over to the MARKETPLACE and open up the "Private Firearms Sales-Long Guns" section. Search "Winchester Model 70" and read/see the various information/photos provided, use those ads as a template and plug in your own rifle's values. Photos are a must for your "Bolt Gun Value" question.
This is a "snark proof" way to get some constructive evaluations.Comment

Let me simplify it for you...Great don't mind if I do. I provided the information I had available at the time hoping that someone on here might be decent enough to make suggestions as to what further information I should gather. Jackasses like you do nothing to promote gun ownership or gun knowledge. To the other posters on here who decided to be helpful even with limited information I appreciate it. Go be an internet tough guy elsewhere.
Maybe you could have gone to a gun auction website (there's a thing called "google" you could use) and looked at the selling prices on completed auctions.
It's normally better to learn to fish v. stopping by the fish market.
A positive attitude also helps.

OP does "limited" research in hope of finding people that have done more "limited" research on gun in question hoping to further his "limited" research on said gun. Where's the Xzibitz meme when you need it!Let me simplify it for you...

I have a Montgomery Ward SxS 16 gauge that still works great. It was given to me in 1971 when I was twelve, but it was already very old. How much is it worth?Comment

It's worth exactly what someone will pay for it and you will sell it for.
So, you have a possible collector's gun that is probably not original so, it doesn't have much collector's value? You are grading it NRA "GOOD" so, it's nothing more than a shooter. It sure sounds to me like it may only have utilitarian value.NRA Certified Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun and Metallic Cartridge Reloading Instructor

I was going to say I have a Corvette with a Camaro body on it, darn it, you are too fast for me. But seriously OP, it's hard to judge value but if it's as you describe (a well used older M70 with a replacement stock) maybe not all that much. If it's very early we would need a serial number.sigpicComment

Should I have it drilled and tapped so an optic can be mounted, or would that ruin the value?I was going to say I have a Corvette with a Camaro body on it, darn it, you are too fast for me. I would post pictures but my dog ate the camera.Comment

Depends on if you're planning on mounting the scope on the fender or the dash. Drilling and tapping the dash could be detrimental to it's collector's value.NRA Certified Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun and Metallic Cartridge Reloading Instructor
