Get a Bartlein, Hawk Hill, Benchmark, or whatever barrel brand in a whatever preferred contour you like in Creedmoor 6.5 or . . .
Give Randall a call and the rest is a piece of cake 😉
Now regarding the rifle go for a Remington 700 5R
It costs somewhat more but it has the best barrel you can get on a 'out of the box' Remington besides the M24
And probably you might even never have to change the barrel since it's a 308 😉

I like 308 or 223 for your intended purpose. 308 allows for more options at a re-barrel, 223 offers cheaper match ammo/reloading.weg: That device is obsolete now. They replaced it with wizards.
