You probably won't be able to own a Nemo in CA in a few years.

It seems like you are happy with the Model 70, and I would expect it to provide more accurate results as well. For me, 300WM is over-kill in a semiauto since I think of it as a long range cartridge where the speed of a semi loses it's edge over a bolt that you manually cycle. The 300WM Nemo simply seems like it would be a very expensive rifle to run. I'd also expect it to be really loud. Personally, I'd keep the Model 70 and skip the Nemo, but if you really want it, then buy it in addition to your bolt rifle. You won't get much value back from modifications that went into the gun so you may not recoup as much cost as you anticipate.

The same reason why buying more ARs and standardized rifles is a better idea. Things wear out and need servicing. The throat on a nemo would wear quick.

I'd get an AR in 308

You already possess the finest hunting rifle ever created; The best safety design for a hunter, most reliable trigger mechanism, controlled round feed, fail-proof ejection, cone breech for ease of feeding, integrated recoil lug, excellent cold hammer forged barrel, and the fact that you are carrying a classic into the field that will last forever. Why would you trade that in for an unreliable, overly-heavy, unproven gun that might fail you when it gets dirty?

Don't fall victim to "the grass is always greener on the other side" mentality. You already own what you want.

              Well said!

I'm very proud to own a M70 in .30-06, it's a fantastic rifle. Granted, it's a post '64 (a 2014 to be exact), but I don't care, it's my baby and I love it. The trigger is absolutely perfect right out of the box. Bolt slides like butter. Puts a big hole exactly where it's pointing every time. Every red-blooded American should own one. And you will undoubtedly, without question, regret getting rid of it.

PS, on a sidenote, looking at your signature you've got excellent taste in guns, and I'm not just saying that because it looks a lot like my own collection

Settle down, folks. The new "ghost gun" regulations probably don't do what you think they do.

I've had a few custom m70. One wore a chassis, other 2 had manners stocks and CDI bottom metal. All took AICS mags. All shot the same as my custom action and Remington action guns. Keep it, you will regret selling it later.

I pretty much always side with hang on to a gun you like and just save for the other, but guess it just depends how patient you are. Good luck

More like a few months. The bills going through say you have to own it no later than 12/31/16 in order to register it.

Yes but I was speaking to a few years down he road when all "legal" scary rifles are banned. Would suck to sell a nice Model 70 for a scary rifle that gets banned later.

You mean confiscation. I guess it could happen although it's been 17 years since the last AW ban and so far no confiscation. Something tells me confiscation of millions of firearms is not going to be as easy as banning them. So I'm not too worried about that so much as the whole ban thing that is actually happening right now.

Thanks for the input looks like I will keep the M70 and just eyeball the Nemo. Admittedly I was really drawn to a semi-auto 300 but it was most likely my inner 10 year old going " Me Wantee!"

Wise choice. You could always wait until SaltWorks comes out with their M6. By the time that happens, you'll have all the money you need saved up and then some.

If it is a good shooter, I would keep it. It is always nice to have a extra firearm in the same caliber.
