INCORRECT info.........there is no fee. That is made clear in [1] of the DOJ FAQs. It takes but a few minutes to register with CaDOJ online.

California Firearms Licensee Check (CFLC) Program Are there any costs or fees to obtain a Firearms Shipment Approval number from the Department of Jusice (DOJ)? I am not a Federal Firearms Licensee (FFL) but I want to ship a firearm from another state to an FFL in California. Do I need to obtain a Firearm Verification Number before shipping a firearm to California? I am an FFL in California. How does the CFLC program affect me? Are any California FFLs exempt from the CFLC verification approval requirement? I am an FFL located outside of California.

Like I said, they lost me too. I'm not sure exactely, but don't they advertise on the NRA 'American Rifleman' TV show?? I do know it's one of them.... "Brought to you by Cheaper Than Dirt".... Maybe the NRA needs to hear about the gripes....??

CTD is about as anti-gun as a gun retailer can be. And besides that, they just suck to do business with, and their name is misleading because they definitely aren't. CTD should be CTSPESC "CheaperThanSome,PlusExcessiveShippingCosts"
Settle down, folks. The new "ghost gun" regulations probably don't do what you think they do.

And that should tell us all a little something about the NRA as well, unfortunately. Sometimes I wonder if they'd even take money from a Soros organization if the latter wanted to buy advertising from them....

I quit buying from CTD as well after what they did a few years ago.

Yep, know what you mean. Being from the Kingdom of Kalifornia I don't see a whole lot of presents from the NRA. I would think that they would be on the front lines when dealing with CA legislators and their inane laws. It's like a pissing contest to see who can outdo the other when making up firearm restriction bills.... Maybe what the NRA should be doing is taking up the sword to get them out of office rather than paying some lobbyist to accomplish nothing. All I see is emails asking to vote for their endorsed candidate, and we're the 'choir'. How about the rest of the voting crowd...??

But I digress.. Hi-Jacked my own thread... :-) This diatribe could go on for a very long time, but I'll go to my corner now...

CTD and Sportsmans Guide are two I don't deal with for pretty much the same reason. Regarding a "fee" I have no problem with a shipper charging a few $$$ for the time it takes for them to do CFLC. I realize there is not (yet) a fee to use CFLC but under the theory "time is money" to any business I'm not going to quarrel with it. I may quarrel with the amount of the fee - $40.00 (if that's the accurate amount) seems a tad high and I'd probably pass buying from that seller.
