    What a crock!!

So I'd been looking for a 264WinMag for quite a while and found a Zatava/Mauser listed on the Cheaper Than Dirt website for $499/free ship/no tax. Cool!! So I jump thru the hoops and register, and then put the thing in my check out cart. Continue to go thru more forms to buy. When I get to the choose an FFL part the only one listed is out of biz. That's OK 'cause I want to use my own local dealer. Call him and have him send a copy of the FFL to CTD. I'm just about ready to hit the buy it button when I look up to the top and they've added another $40 bucks to the total?? So I call. The gal says they won't ship to California, and posted somewhere there's a big bold sign to that effect. Sure there is....
I'm not aware of any restriction to ship to an CA FFL. What a PITA. CTD has lost me as a customer....

You will not find many people on this site that give their money to CTD.

Just because you are not aware of it does not mean it does not exist.
The Ca DOJ requires extra paperwork for an FFL to ship a gun into CA (above and beyond the federal requirements).

California Firearms Licensee Check (CFLC) Program Are there any costs or fees to obtain a Firearms Shipment Approval number from the Department of Jusice (DOJ)? I am not a Federal Firearms Licensee (FFL) but I want to ship a firearm from another state to an FFL in California. Do I need to obtain a Firearm Verification Number before shipping a firearm to California? I am an FFL in California. How does the CFLC program affect me? Are any California FFLs exempt from the CFLC verification approval requirement? I am an FFL located outside of California.

Some companies would rather just not ship here than do the extra paperwork.

Mention CTD on this site and you might as well turn in your man card.

You say CTD lost you as a customer. You never should have been one from the start. Terrible company to patronize for so many reasons.

I ran into this recently with an FFL in Washington state.

The were very nice, but adamant that this extra hurdle meant that they will no longer do transfers to CA.

I wanted a 264 and could not find one that I liked and for a reasonable cost.
I then rebarreled my 7mag which was not that important to me and have a rifle with a barrel that is better than any of the factory ones I looked at. The cost was about $375

before buying a gun out of state make you you ask if they ship to cali. for out of state ffls they have to register with California and pay a fee so many dont. what you can do is ask if they can find an ffl that will ship and pay the difference. this happened to me when I bought a c and r out of state.

Not a Zastava, but a nice winny from a great company that will gladly ship to your local FFL:

Thanks Goose, but I did find a couple of 70's locally in 264 for $650. More than I'd like to spend on any post-70... That Zatava was new for $500. So the search for a mauser action in 264 continues. Maybe someday I'll find a M70 Zatava here in NorCal??

I thought about that. I've got a early 700ADL 7mm Mag that's in hunted condition. Re-bbl, put a nice chunk on wood on it, and a timney. Hmmmm??

Sometimes a Man Card isn't issued. Some men you just can't reach. So you get what we had here last week, which is the way he wants it. Well, he gets it. I don't like it any more than you men.
